2017/18 Gylfi Sigurdsson

The majority of the premier league has sussed out the 4-2-3-1 formation and rendered it useless. Very few teams play with an attacking midfielder behind the striker as a result.

Klaassen, Rooney and Sigi all play their best footy in that exact position. What on earth were we thinking?
I'm not sure ANY of those guys have played the CM position in a 4-2-3-1, BTW.

Sigurdsson created most chances in the league for us? It was on the echo so might be lies

Goal Scorer: Wayne Rooney (4 Goals)
Top Assists: Calvert-Lewin (2 Assists)
Highest Pass Accuracy: Idrissa Gueye (88% Pass Accuracy with 395 Comp. Passes)
Highest Shot Accuracy: Kevin Mirallas (67% Shot Accuracy with a Total 3 Shots)
Most Completed Passes: Idrissa Gueye (395 Completed Passes with an 88% Pass Accuracy)
Most Chances Created: Wayne Rooney (17 Chances Created: 0 Assists and 17 Key Passes)
Most Cards: Idrissa Gueye (4 Yellow Cards and 1 Red Cards)

Not even judging him yet.

Seen enough of his quality over the years to know he deserves better than the treatment afforded him thus far .

I count it four positions he's been asked to play for us thus far.

Ridiculous
Fair comment but he’s been gash in them all four positions

That just says to me, considering how crap we've been too, that if we had even a half decent striker things might be a lot different. 17 chances in 10 games from Rooney alone, dare say there's more from others. No one to slot them in though

Seen on the echo according to opta most chances in league n most assists overall.

Klaassen was already sewn up well ahead of time.

Rooney was bundled alone on a free with Lukaku.

Sig became available and Walsh and Koeman got greedy and insisted on him particularly after Giroud was not available. They ended up paying 20m over for him but it wasn't their money so they didn't care. Horrible isn't it.

The 4231 formation is still useful defensively especially now if you want to lock down and not concede goals. Most of the top teams are playing 3 at the back because the wings can get higher up the pitch, but you need really strong WBs to get up and down the pitch and Everton don't have either the WBs or CBs to play this way.
