Should be playing CM next to Rooney with Gueye behind them. Think him and Rooney have been linking up well recently.

Think this could be an option against the lesser teams at home (Swansea could be perfect).

Away, it'd be too open.

Schneiderlin did well yesterday and Gueye was excellent.

We should have the majority of the ball against Swansea and be looking to take the impetus, so having him in midfield could be an option.

That being said he's looking comfortable in this inside forward role on the left, and starting to link well with Rooney, so I'd imagine it'll be Davies in midfield on Monday with Rooney and Gueye, and Gylfi, DCL and one other (Lennon, Lookman or Vlasic) on the right.

I thought he might do that against newcastle to be honest, but I agree I would certainly like to see rooney returned to his deeper role at home against a really poor swansea side

Yeh Rooney will almost certainly be back there on Monday I reckon.

It's whether Sam goes like the same he did vs Huddersfield - with Gylfi pushed up on the left - or he tries Gylfi deeper alongside Rooney, with Lookman/Vlasic/Niasse pushed up in support of DCL and Lennon.

Personally think he's likely to go with Davies in there as well, as that does give us more legs in the centre of the park, and allows Rooney to have that free role.

Then, if we need to change it to be attacking, Davies can be switched for one of our wingers and Gylfi can drop back. If we have a lead we want to hold - like vs H'field - Schneiderlin can come on.

He definitely goes invisible in games we play on the back foot, but he also definitely is the best dead ball taker in the league. Just about every one is very dangerous. Unfortunately when you dont get forward with wingers to get fouls, you dont get free kicks.
