My hope with Gylfi, like so many others in the squad, is that he will improve with a change of style/manager. So many player’s form has fell off a cliff this season, I’m hoping that this will only be temporary.

I agree (for the most part, anyway), my point is that almost every player has been awful this year and we know there are some decent ones in there. Just trying to find some optimism in what has been a bleak campaign.

His stats from set pieces stood out, everything else from open play didn't other than he works dead hard.

I disagree. He has a lot of quality. Watching his overall performance in the Euros does you he is much more than just set pieces.

I think there's more to it than just 'he's boss's or 'he's crap'

No but I tend to afford players that I've watched over a number of seasons play well a little more leeway than simply branding them 'crap'.

He stood out at Reading, he stood out at Hoffenheim, he stood out at Swansea on both occasions. But yes he's suddenly crap, in funnily enough, a god awful Everton team where he's being played, in the main, out of position.

What player cost us £45m? when things aren't going well he goes hiding, would expect more from a player who supposedly carried Swansea and Iceland.

We have paid good money for plenty of players that have been sub par.
