Slow? Yes.
Lacks creativity from open play. No. There's a few links in this thread that prove otherwis
Can't beat a man. Dubious. Linked to first point anyway.
Doesnt look for the ball enough. Covered the second highest distance last season, unless he was always running away from the ball its a problematic stat.

His first touch, even under pressure is immense. Hardly ever loses it. And most of the time his passes hit their target.

His lack of pace is why he's not at a top 4 club. He's top drawer in everything else.

I think I 'get' football more than most but its truly a mystery why so many are blind to his qualities.
Just search some of homie @Timak posts, he's schooled many in here. Siggy from open play really is bang average

Don't think I've ever seen him beat a man

And yes he covers a lot of grass but not with the ball.

Massive stiffies over Willian in the Gylfi thread isn't something i wasn't entirely prepared for when signing on to this forum.

Yes well this thread is the perfect example of lies, damned lies and statistics.

But sigurdsson has created a lot from open play. Most of us can think of a handful of gilt edged chances created by siggy that were squandered by our players this season without thinking.

We definitely overpaid for him. Most of those players you mentioned there have been flops. We paid £45m for an alright player.

We overpaid yes, but Gylfi has has a decent season.

Without considering the price, on the face of it he's been involved in most of the good things we have done this season.

He's got to improve, but had the rest of team/management/DoF/tea lady had such a shocking season, then we'd probably look at him as a very good acquisition.

The price skews it. We paid £45m for a player who's worth probably £30-35m in today's market, but that's not his fault.
