The amount of people on here giving him a hard time, yet if you go to the Klaassen thread the consensus is that he’s just misunderstood and is actually a great player.

Unbelievable.
It`s due to the fact that Klaasen has hardly played, so people forget how crap he is too.

Same happened with Bolasie when he was out injured lol

Yes, up until a certain level and in international football, which is slower paced and less physical than our league.

In England, he has done well in a bottom half Premier League team and flopped when stepping up to us and Spurs.
The issue with Swansea is that nobody takes them seriously. By that I mean, unless your name is Sam Allardyce, no manager sets up his team to stop Swansea. They set up to play their own game. So Siggy finds himself with more space and time than he would in an Everton or Spurs team. Even then his record from open play wasn't stand out.

The conundrum I have with Siggy is twofold. Firstly, we didn't really give him the chance to operate in a functioning attacking unit, having spent most of his time protecting Martina. The second issue is he is very good from set pieces which is an important tool to have in your locker. We have nobody else who even comes close.

My instinct is to keep hold of him for another season. However, if Brands/Silva think he won't fit in, I'd be happy to swap him for a younger model who is maybe a bit more dynamic on the ball, but still brings that quality in front of goal and, importantly, from set pieces.

Siggy is better than Klassen in every aspect. Those who can’t see it should quit football and watch Cricket instead.

In fairness there's a reason for that. Spurs saw how effective the Pienaar/Baines axis was for us and bought him to do the same thing with Bale. But Bale developed as a player and ended up taking the position intended for Pienaar.
Plus, Spurs didn`t have a full back like Baines at the time, to compliment him.
