Looking forward to getting him back into the fold this summer. My only minor concern is how much the WC will effect his preparation should Iceland have an extended stay in the tournament - he struggled to get going when we signed him as he had a no preseason at all.

I genuinely don't have an opinion on this because I haven't seen him play in person yet but interesting that people say he is not world class yet he almost single handedly drove his team to the late stages of the last Euro's and has got the team to this year's World Cup. He has also been at the heart of his country's evolution as an ace togger team on the World stage. He can definitely cut it at international level - he's a number ten and scored 19 goals in 50 games. So world class definitely no, but international class definitely. Can't say that about many players in the Prem outside of the top six.

Some players play better for their clubs than their National teams, some players better for their National teams than they do for their clubs.

Unfortunately I think he falls into the latter category.

That definitely happens. Guess we will see for certain this year - he performed pretty well for Swansea consistently and a lot of professionals were saying Everton was doing the right thing in buying him but then there was the big cluster fudge of the season.

He played well for us last season, once fully fit

Didn't tear it up, obviously, but once he had found a settled role in the side and was clicking with his team-mates - especially Rooney - he was very consistent.

Expecting him to step it up this year.

Iceland played Ghana on wednesday, and Gylfi played from the start and completed 67 minuttes before subbed. He was excellent, and capped a great performance with an assist (shot). Of course he was man of the match.

The goal is about 1:35 into the video:

yes its those high caliber team mates that make the difference, thats why he was such a top player at spurs
I'm not saying that Iceland's players are better than ours, they're clearly not.

But last season we were one of the most stunted attacking teams I've ever seen. Rigid in positions, no movement off the ball and refused to keep possession in short, simple passes.

Any player who thrives with runners going in behind and breaking lines is going to struggle and Gylfi is one of those players as shown in that brief video.

Do I think Sigurdsson was worth £45m? Of course not. But people on here make out like he's awful when he's clearly not.
