I'm not saying that Iceland's players are better than ours, they're clearly not.

But last season we were one of the most stunted attacking teams I've ever seen. Rigid in positions, no movement off the ball and refused to keep possession in short, simple passes.

Any player who thrives with runners going in behind and breaking lines is going to struggle and Gylfi is one of those players as shown in that brief video.

Do I think Sigurdsson was worth £45m? Of course not. But people on here make out like he's awful when he's clearly not.

The issue with Swansea is that nobody takes them seriously. By that I mean, unless your name is Sam Allardyce, no manager sets up his team to stop Swansea. They set up to play their own game. So Siggy finds himself with more space and time than he would in an Everton or Spurs team. Even then his record from open play wasn't stand out.

The conundrum I have with Siggy is twofold. Firstly, we didn't really give him the chance to operate in a functioning attacking unit, having spent most of his time protecting Martina. The second issue is he is very good from set pieces which is an important tool to have in your locker. We have nobody else who even comes close.

My instinct is to keep hold of him for another season. However, if Brands/Silva think he won't fit in, I'd be happy to swap him for a younger model who is maybe a bit more dynamic on the ball, but still brings that quality in front of goal and, importantly, from set pieces.

Centre midfield would be ideal for him...good engine...can tackle...track runners...pass...shoot...just isnt dynamic or quick on a counter.

Gylfi will be getting double figures in both goals and assists next season if he’s played centrally and avoids signicant injury. He’ll do so because he’s one of our best players. I don’t know what people are expecting from him.

Stats havent backed that up...so far.

Not saying that mate. For an Everton number 10 I fully expect him to be the most Creative player and carry the team offensively and everyone look at him as inspiration.

He needs to be the figurehead of the attacking pack with influence like KDB for city, Salah for the scum, hazard for Chelsea. Impact wise, never mind quality wise.

He's a very good premier league player. However, hes not as good as any of the players in the top 6 in his position

If we want to break into that elite bracket then his is a key position which makes alot of difference.

He's one of the best players of his age in his position in the world mate ... didn't you hear ?

DCL is...quite clearly.


Back to Gylfi. Ive always wanted him in our team, so far im underwhelmed...

Mate he can't finish, he can't be the 5th best U21 striker. I literally cannot see anything special to his play. He's ok at some things and works hard and has a good attitude but he doesn't have any c factor for me and will end up in lower prem I'm the future imo

Don't be so naive. I love Coleman but he's not as good post-injury and he's not as good as Sigurdsson.

Think his best position would be centre mid for us. Has the engine and tenacity to make a great box to box midfielder doing his best work breaking forward. His lack of real pace as a central attacking mid makes our attack more static than it would likely be with a bit of pace and power in that role.

I don't watch any other footy bar Everton mate as I have to stay up all night . Dolberg ? Seems highly rated . If he is the 5th best striker 21 or under in the world then football standards have dropped off a cliff.
