He was never consistantly unbelievably good, he has had a few great moments such as away at Newcastle, even Danny Cadamarteri had his moments, Barkley might be mentaly weak and might have ability but wil never be anything better then a bang average player, you think he could ever play well on the big stage like Siggy can? no chance

Maybe it’s because I’m an American who doesn’t have a connection with the local community, but I’ve never gotten the Ross love.

I get that he’s a local boy who showed flashes of talent, but he never seemed to do anything in the final third, and far too often was a turnover machine. He was all style, and no substance.

He also seems to be the stereotypical talented young athlete who was/is too dumb and arrogant to ever be truly successful. Add in the whole contract/transfer drama, and I’m glad to be rid of him.

Gylfi on the other hand puts in shift, worked for everything he was ever given, and is a likeable bloat. Hopefully he features centrally (not on the wing) for us this season.

Comparing Barkley to Cadamarteri, marvellous. I wish all bang average players could run 60 yards with a ball, going past players before scoring, or hitting a first time drop down from 35 yards out and pinging it right in the top bin

Don’t mention the first half of the season though it’ll kill your point lol

He actually had about 3 good months when we went on a bit of a run and was good against the likes of Burnley and Bournemouth at home. Luckily some of us remember what actually happened.

I’m well aware of the first half of the season, I was very vocal when he was playing that his composure was all over the place and he was deservingly called out

So let’s see what Iceland did for us over the last season with us:
1) hit a fluke from the half way line
2) played well against Swansea at home
3) ran around a bit but hid for the majority

This. When the biggest critic of Sigurdsson on the board says it, I think we know it's true. Swans, Spurs, everyone else has seen this Sigurdsson, too, so MAYBE, just MAYBE the one season with us is the anomaly.
 
Gylfi is playing in the world cup while Barkley has success on the Subs bench at Chelsea, says it all really. And Barkley will be photo shopped in somewhere, probably played in 66 as well!.
