2017/18 Gylfi Sigurdsson

I’m well aware of the first half of the season, I was very vocal when he was playing that his composure was all over the place and he was deservingly called out

So let’s see what Iceland did for us over the last season with us:
1) hit a fluke from the half way line
2) played well against Swansea at home
3) ran around a bit but hid for the majority

Thanks Gylfi

One is a proven international star who plays in a side who have great spirit and all put in a shift. He is cool, calm and highly thought of for being a steady and proven professional.

The other is a cry arse mentally weak prima donna who ratted out on his boyhood club and thinks he’s better than what he is.

I’ll take the first one every day of the week my friend.

This. When the biggest critic of Sigurdsson on the board says it, I think we know it's true. Swans, Spurs, everyone else has seen this Sigurdsson, too, so MAYBE, just MAYBE the one season with us is the anomaly.

One game last season where he looked like this - Burnley away. Slaloming with the ball at his feet, made it looks so easy.

And he still bottled it.

Loooool

It’s Iceland lid, he probably asked his neighbour if he fancied a game at this World Cup

You know I am right, hence your response.

Barkley can’t even get in one of the most experimental England squads ever who are actually giving youth a chance lol

It’s not comparable because you’re talking about Iceland and there 45 people to pick a team from and England

But yeah let’s hope Gylfi gives us more than the 1 game he turned up for last year. Forgot how missed he was when he was injured as well

Barkley has marvellous technique and I think some of our fans actually forgot how technically good he was, his striking of the ball was brilliant

Plus he was direct and could pick up the ball and run with it and drift past people.

He was just mentally weak, and as soon as something went wrong he couldn’t pick himself up. The second half of Koemans first season he was unbelievably good

Whoa. When the heck was Barkley direct? He stopped being direct YEARS ago. He would sit there and dwell on the ball forever, flop all over the place, never tackle anyone when he lost it, etc. He wanted to be a holding midfielder, but couldn't tackle well enough to play the position. If he surrounded by better players, yes, maybe he would've played differently, so much like Siggy, you gotta cut him a bit of a break.

Barkley was indeed mentally weak and his physical skills were insane, strong, fast, etc. But he never played strong. His technique would let him down some, he was a bit inconsistent, but most of it was mental.

Keep in mind, Barkley only scored 21 in 150 appearances with Everton.

That didn’t seem to matter at the Euros...
