It’s a weird one with Rooney. When he plays he’s probably our best player, however I think the team would play better without him as it’d be more balanced without him shoehorned into the team.

I personally think we're less of a threat when he's not playing.

Needs to be our 1 and only number 10 today. Lets not make utter dopes of ourselves again today by trying to play 3 number 10 with them tripping over each others laces. Give him the role and play wide men with a bit of pace. Lookman mirallas valisc . 2 of those 3. Rooney up top. Try him there top hold up play. Dcl if not but lets play proper wide men

He really shouldn't be playing up top though. He ends up spending most of his time on the half way line. Doesn't run channels either.

i'd bench him and use him as a sub in most games.

Why can't we just Gylfi work in an old fashioned 4-4-2

Leaving aside Bolasie, Coleman and Ross whom I would put in later:

Kenny - Keane - Jags - Baines

Vlasic - Gylfi - Gana - Mirallas

Rooney - DCL

Sort of becomes a 4-1-3-2 if you want to be narrow or a 4-4-1-1- to defend, and a 4-3-3 with Rooney and Gylfi dropping into midfield
