Happy Birthday Bill Kenwright

Steve Wigan, I forgot to ask, did Kenwright give the £48M he got for selling his shares to charity?

Haven't the faintest...they were his shares to sell, and I think Mosh is a pretty good owner. Bill has given a lot to charity over the years, and Jenny is active in some charities. Show business people are renowned for their charitable work, I know a number of high profile entertainers who do lots of work and donate lots of money to various charities. Only last week I heard directly of an entertainer who gave a substantial sum towards a few people who had lost work through the pandemic, and although I know a few who charge expenses for personal appearances, the majority don't charge at all. One thing that does happen in football is that the value of everything increases...shares, player valuations, property,TV payments, all increase at a rate far above the normal rate of inflation. So what Bill and the others got for their Everton shares was about right, given how long he'd held the shares. Mosh wouldn't have bought the shares if he didn't think the value was right.

Happy birthday and hope he is over his health issues.

Can we please repeat the birthday wishes to Peter Johnson in November - the last chairman to put money into the club that wasn't a loan?

Almost forgot. Happy Birthday Bill, and here's to another 75 years

I don't think anyone could just waltz along to the bank and say 'Could you put this £20 million in the Everton account for me? Thanks very much' There has to be some business basis involved. Anyone who 'invests'(?) by buying shares gets money back, usually a profit, when they sell and the only other way to invest is by way of a loan. Just 'giving' money to a football club would have tax ramifications, I'm sure. Maybe one of our accountants could clarify? Happy to be proved wrong if thats the case.

Steve why I asked you was because you said he was relying on the proceeds and rights of a play for his pension, while he has just received £48M from the sale of his shares. A bit of nonsense there Steve

I didn't say he was relying on the rights for his pension, I was implying that his pension has been in place for many years because of his investment in Educating Rita and Stepping Out. Are you suggesting that Bill should not have sold his shares to Moshiri in order to facilitate the 'takeover' ? Bill always said he would sell to 'the right owner' and he did. And he had every right to the money for the shares....he bought the shares in the first place in difficult circumstances for the club. And as I said above, Moshiri was happy with the price, otherwise he would not have bought the shares. There are many areas were it could be argued that BKs ownership was less than perfect, but the legitimate sale of shares to facilitate the incoming of a new majority shareholder with 'clout' is not one of them, so I suggest you find another bone to gnaw on. Greatest of respect to you, Cameron.

What you said Steve was “ His pension is basically his rights to Educating Rita and the film Stepping out” you are suggesting that Kenwright shouldn’t have sold his shares Moshiri, and you go on to say how happy Moshiri was with the price, you go on to say how legitimate it was for Kenwright to sell the shares, and suggest to me to find another bone to chew on if it bothers me.Considering you’ve only met him once you seem to have lots of time and praise for him. I’ll be honest I’ve only got contempt for him and his chairmanship of Everton FC. I hope you are doing okay Steve, best wishes.

Were have I ever suggested Bill should not have sold his shares? Of course he sold his shares, because Mosh was the right owner. And did you expect him to announce that he'd given the money to charity? He gives plenty to charity. Read what I've written again. YOU are the one who is begrudging Bill the income from shares he bought legitimately..

You asked me was I suggesting that Kenwright shouldn’t have sold his shares, I never made any such suggestion, you were trying to put words I never used into my mouth, I read you the first time, I never said I begrudge Kenwright the money he sold from his shares, that’s you putting words in my mouth again.

The only thing I begrudge Kenwright is that he was ever involved with Everton, how could I begrudge a man who’s repeated lies and failing Everton big time with the Kings Dick, worse still trying to take our club out of the City it belongs in to Kirkby, a venture that was doomed as soon as it began because dedicated, intelligent Evertonians were on the case giving time money and robust energy in opposing the ridiculous notion, and then, when the move was thrown out as being such, the hypocrite Kenwright said he was glad the move failed.Steve you praise him as much as you wish, I certainly don’t begrudge you having praise for him, pity you maybe.

I'm a well wisher, in that I don't wish him any specific harm.

This.
But Happy Birthday Bill
He does tend to divide the punters though

If he was chairman of a real business and not the fantasy world of modern football, he would've been binned a few times over for KD, DK, the fortress fund.
Then we have the coincidence of how as Bill stake went up so did the club debt...allegedly.
Top Shop Green
The British Virgin Island 20mill roll over thing
Or was he just doing his best to keep things ticking over

Also, I dont believe a word about uncle cyrils crossbar and the boys pen

But you have to give him credit for
A) Appointing Moyes on the say so of Walter Smith, which kept us ticking over - just
B) Conning Moshiri into letting him have his cake and eating it to the tune of... again, allegedly 25mill.
