2024/25 Harrison Armstrong

Used to watch Ossie regularly for the ressies at Haig Avenue, his talent stood out like sore thumb,I couldn't believe the first team didn't select him,had to be his size and physicality that slowed his progress, his loan to Derby was the making of him, think he may have had a spell at Carlisle too, crazy to think he was 23 if my memory is correct when he made his debut for us!!

Be interesting to see if Derby try to keep him if they stay up. What's he worth? What could they afford? How much is this last PSR payment Moyes was talking about?
Other than Patterson there aren't really any players we would want to sell who will still be under contract next season so maybe there is something clever that can be done where Derby buy him, Potentially sorts our PSR issue (does homegrown play a factor?), but we have an agreed lowish buy back clause so we don't miss out if he develops further.
🤣🤣🤣 Man Utd, city. Arsenal have all watched this lad, Derby aren’t buying him and we Aren’t selling. Ffs

….i’m generally not a supporter of loan deals for Everton players but the 2 you mention were arguably the best the club has ever arranged.

Coleman only played 9 games for Blackpool, Osman just 17 for Derby before collectively playing over 700 league games for the Toffees. Two great servants, those loan deals certainly worked out well, it’s not even a matter of conjecture.
barkley went to Sheffield Wednesday & leeds?
Ledson to Cambridge.
Garbutt to Cheltenham, Colchester, Fulham, Wigan, Oxford, Ipswich.
Robinson to Bolton & Wigan.

Obviously a certain CB went to PSV.

Reckon the loan system is a bit of a lottery, more often there's a change of manager and thus styles of play and players can be isolated in a set up they weren't loaned for. Sometimes it goes the other way. It's not often a player goes elsewhere and pulls up trees with their performances. I believe the experience of playing games in anger with something on the line is the taster for how they will thrive. Discipline, determination, and drive.

Hibbert didn't have to be in decline for Coleman to be better than him. If the outcome is positive I'm not sure can attribute one of the key inputs as madness.
Onrado Merseyside DM was asked about Coleman's dynamic performance as substitute who alone overlapping got us a point after being behind v Spurs at home - interveviewed on RM - DM what a performance the shirt is his after that performance.... then sent out on loan & Hibbert returner!

Imo an Everton that moment!

Wants the ball. Head constantly swivelling so he knows what’s around him and which direction his first touch needs to go so his next touch can get him facing forwards. When he’s not in space he drifts into it. Plenty more time to develop, but some very good signs on things that aren’t that easy to coach as they need to be fairly instinctive. Not a chance in hell he should be sold until he’s tried and failed at PL level. Would be madness.

Gordon went out to PNE to and i think got binned for exactly what you describe above. ;)

I like his balance. Seems a half yard in front of anyone near him just by body shape. Getting his center of gravity at or beneath who ever is closing him down allows him control of the contact. Seems to have two good feet. Wont get all of the time he does in the championship in the pl, but that's for a later day.
Nice having a prospect out there throwing performances in and getting a few headlines.

Been to long.

….i thought the loan was high risk given his age. He lives at home, is literally only just turned 18 and has very limited experience of open-age football so the fact he’s doing what he is says bundles about his attitude. I think that’s what’s impressing me most.

Attitude with his quality range of passing, it’s hard not to think Moyes has a player on his hands for next season.
I think it shows that when you were laughing and worrying about when people suggested he should get a loan, you were being a big of a silly billy.

….i’m clearly daft ;) but I still think it was a massive risk. Only thing I don’t know is the lad’s character, he must be made of the right stuff to be doing what he’s doing.

I’ll be delighted if this loan works out even if I thought it was daft sending him out.
