And laid off the booze once he got down to LondonYes a lot of your last paragraph is true of the player Ross became, if only he’d had that football brain when he was younger and fitter!

Question:
How many Everton academy players that went out on loan and didn’t make it here, do you think would have made it if they’d not gone on loan?
…..generally no but there might be exceptions. It’s exactly why I think it’s a bad sign for them when they do go on loan. Our best ones we tend to keep here, obviously the couple of exceptions we’ve mentioned (Osman, Barkley & Gordon).
Very few of our Academy players go on loan and then play 50 first team games. That might change if we become mega-successful, of course but even when I was growing up our best youngsters came directly into the first team fold (Harvey, Royle, Hurst, Whittle, Husband etc although I’m not sure loans were a thing back then).
Bobby Jones, Alan Ball, Keown, Eric Dier, Anthony Robinson, Onana has done ok, Gordon.Lukaku is surely a no, been a laughing stock wherever he's gone, league title or no league title.
John Stones I'll add to the (very small) list
So loans aren't the problem then are they? The problem has been the quality of academy players.
My tongue was firmly in cheek.Bobby Jones, Alan Ball, Keown, Eric Dier, Anthony Robinson, Onana has done ok, Gordon.
But they come directly into the first team because they are our best young players, they don't magically become our best young players because they haven't been sent on loan. Harry Kane and Beckham both went on loan.…as I say, I’m not against loans per se but our best youngsters tend to come directly into the first team.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc.…sorry Kev, you’ve lost me a bit there
…..generally no but there might be exceptions. Robinson, Mills, Galloway in particular went backwards.

That was Leeds, he had a good loan with Sheff Wednesday thoughBarkley had a terrible loan which he never should have gone on too, think from memory it was Sheff United under Warnock....

After getting the crap kicked out of them in lower leagues ? Who knows as they never even made the bench, but two goalkeepers can sit on our bench ,,,,,, .....Question:
