Has Moyes lost the Plot ?

It's not about how good Howard is. It's about form.
When your form drops, a break can do you good, and sometimes the team good too.
It would also do our squad good to have 2 goalkeepers fighting for a place rather than just one.
I know Paul is a goalkeeper, and will always defend that position, but we are letting far too many goals in, and you have to question as to whether Howard is in command of his area and the defenders around him too.
I see us getting another keeper very soon, like it or not.

The defense simply hasn't been good enough. I don't think we have had the same back 4 for two games in a row for a while now. At the back were using square pegs for round holes (eg. Hibbert at centre back, left back) That is why we are conceding so many, not because of Howard.

I agree. Since Yobo got injured Distin's had a different partner in the centre pretty much every game. The centre backs need to build an understanding and know how each other plays to be effective. As Heitinga cant play in Europe perhaps we should try Distin and Rodwell at the back so we can have some consistency.

Until the big boys start coming back from injury we need to make ourselves hard to beat because I would much rather have scrappy 0-0s and the odd 1-0 win than put in a gutsy display and lose 3-2

He's not losing the plot but I can't say I agree with him, I certainly haven't seen pretty football this season. It's been predictable, direct and slow football that is easy to defend against.

Against Stoke and Wolves we started hitting the diagonal ball and played right into the hands of there 6ft plus back four. We lack creativity, invention and link up play in abundance, our game is as simple as you can get at the moment. Hit and hope, cross from deep and hope Louis Saha has his magic boots on.

The 'supposed' style of play of play isn't the problem, individual mistakes, lack of organisation and to be fair to him, lack of players are the main problems.

We should be looking to improve our style of play, as I always say, retaining possession and keeping the ball away from your opponents is the best form of defence. If they haven't got the ball they can't hurt you.

I dont think any other team could lose the amount of players of the quality Moyes has lost, and not suffer a drop in form. We barely managed towards the end of last season with half the players out than we do now!

Your posting is getting worse, its almost as if uve just stopped trying.

Get off Howards back, I suppose you want to give 1 of the under 16 squad a go?

Or even Hibbert.

So if you don't think there is a problem with Howard, then noone else is allowed to huh?
That makes real sense.(n)
Do one Goat, and take your pretend moderators badge off. One more dig and you 'will' be on permanent ignore m8.

Maybe my Howard comments are a bit unfair, but I was bitterly disappointed after his preformance against Benfica,Though even then he made some decent stops ,there was a few times he just seemed glued to his line. But I do not think he´s a bad keeper .Quite the contary .Remember tricky dicky?:D

Its a debate, you put your side and I said your talking tosh, its what happens in discussion.

Or should I just nod my head and agree with you?

I dont have a pretend moderators badge, I have no powers within the forum and have to follow the same rules as everybody else, my infractions should reflect this.

Push The Button

Debate away, but cut the personal crap out.
Criticizing my posting wasn't exactly the most tactful comment after yesterdays goings on, especially from someone who has just broken every forum rule in the book in the United thread....and you know you have. :)

I think its you who has got the plastic sheriffs badge on lerd.

Anyway..

I would like to voice my disagreement with the post regarding the dropping of Howard and would ask if the poster in question could please refer me to whom would take the aforementioned Howards place within the team.

We do have a reserve goalkeeper.........don't we?

I would sadly have to question the reasoning behind dropping an International Goalkeeper, who last season kept a number of clean sheets and replacing him with, in my very humble view, a veteran journeyman sub standard goalkeeper.

It's hard to disagree with that really.

Don't see where the Howard criticism is coming from really, he's been one of the few who's played their part this season. As far as keepers go, were lucky to have him.

Defo would be beneficial to have some competition to the spot but it would gave to be a young talented keeper that's prepared to sit on the bench for a while

I have no problem at all with getting another keeper to keep him on his toes, maybe help him raise his game a little, but as you say, as far as keepers go hes a good un, if it aint broke dont fix it.

Ive seen nothing in any performance from Howard this season that suggests he would benefit or indeed needs "a rest". And thats despite shipping 6 and 5.
