Heitinga hints at Everton exit

Is he still in the Dutch squad, or ar the very least on the fringes?

If so, I think he will go somewhere for first team football.

Last played for them this past summer against China, so not too far out. I don't think it's too out of the question to see him making the 25-man as a backup/dressing room presence type. The Dutch aren't exactly swimming in talented CB's.

I doubt its a money issue, with west ham in crisis he could have signed a 6 month deal on more than what he is on now, he's only 30 and doesnt want to go play for big sam at a grim club, cant blame him for that, though of course he will painted as pure evil for it

De Vrij, Martins Indi, Blind, van Rhijn, Vlaar and arguably Veltman ahead of Heitinga at centre-back for Netherlands. He would need to join a team and keep clean sheets in every game to attract the attention of van Gaal now.

He's re-signed for Atletico Madrid:

Wasnt he absolutely awful for them?

He's got no intention of leaving. He'll still be here Feb 1st.

That said, his departure should NOT be standing in the way of any arrival.

This. There's no way he's taking a pay cut for no good reason. The only way he'll leave is if he gets an offer from a decent sized club on a wage somewhere near what we're paying him.

He's a mercenary. Nothing wrong with that, can't blame him for doing it, but I definitely expect him to be here unless a proper club come in for him.

If not, he'll wait for the Bosman and join anyone stupid enough to give him the signing on fee.

He's said that wages weren't the problem. He's holding out for someone like Roma or a big Turkish side rather than joining a team who might not even be in the Premier League next season. Can't really blame him.

Yes and any attempt by the board to suggest that both he and jelavic need to go before replacements can be brought in needs to be given extremely short shrift with the knowledge that realistically they aren't going anywhere.

Heitinga needs to go to the World Cup with Holland to keep his reputation up a as a top quality defender. This will help him negotiate a better deal with a new club.
If he sits on the Everton bench until the summer and is left behind by Holland it will seriously weaken his agents bargaining pwer.

Heitinga will leave before February,I am convinced of that. He is playing tough to see which,if any, big clubs want o sign him.
I think the West Ham story was an attempt to force bigger clubs into displaying an interest.

But if they do we'll replace them with better, no doubt about that.

In actual fact he was not that good in the last world cup. Stuck with the barsteward, damn. Come on Bill, just pay him off on the 30th January and get rid.

there is an arguement to be made we have managed a really talented player shockingly.... u dont play in a WC final for no rea\son

At the end of the day, the player and how he plays dictates how he is "managed." He's played well for about 6 months of his 4.5 years here, that is not down to management of the player. That he's still in contention for a spot with The Netherlands is more proof that they have a dearth of talent at CB.
