Heitinga hints at Everton exit

By this logic, wouldn't it make more sense to keep him on the wage bill until we've signed a new player? If we get rid of him first, the new signing's agents will know that we have more money to spend in wages, whereas if there is uncertainty about him going, they can't use that as a bargaining chip

Depends on who Everton are after doesn't it and how much they're asking for?

Well sure, but it's a bit like how Newcastle gouged Liverpool after they sold Torres, or how Spurs had to pay over the odds after selling Bale, players and agents take into account the amount of money a club has at its disposal when negotiating. Knowing that a club just got one of it's top scorers off it's wage bill will definitely motivate them to hold out for more money.

Perhaps it would be wise to proceed with a touch of circumspection and only sell him after we have avoided our current CB crisis...

You lot seem to forget that he was once our player of the year...

Comparing him to what we have rather than Jags, Distin, Alcaraz, Stones etc. Also versatile as a DM where we are short.

Be a great signing for your lot, I sense he needs a move to rekindle his best but he is a good player no doubt, is he linked with Palace?

People are mistaking being a **** for being a terrible player. He is a very good player, just never consistent enough, or given long enough in the team to become consistent.
