Henry Onyekuru

Can this be blamed on Everton? Surely the club could have done more?
They can be blamed for signing him in the first place when they knew the work permit rules. Interestingly, it will get much harder next year after Brexit when all European players come under these work permit rules. It won’t be possible to sign all of the youngsters we have been signing unless the rules change.

Think that injury before the WC last year was unlucky for us tbh. Nothinh we could have done. This says €12mill excluding bonuses, so probably adds it up to €15mill. Hope we have a decent sell on clause.

God that is terrible, I'm a big fan of brands, but I don't think he's getting brilliant value for our sales. Standing on the outside, the players he's selling have done Jack for us, but they've done well in Europe..

It's just a pity European clubs are interested in our players and not English idiots who spend £20m+ on mings and solanke.

The problem is the teams that have loaned our players are not great or are skint. Turkey and Russia isnt the best place really but I suppose it gets them off the wage bill.

We should start looking at different leagues if we can, so at least if the teams our players are at cant afford them, if they do well another team may come for them.

Yeah, can't go around asking every club in the world, but a lot of the lower prem teams seem to be against buying from us. I mean that Diaz guy from City went for £15m, never even heard of him, he has no prestige in this country. We laugh at players like Bolasie, but he's better than the utter crap some of them are buying.

I would have thought we’d have got more for Vlasic, Lookman and Onyekuru, but as long as we have decent sell on fees (which the buying clubs may have only decided to agree to if the initial fee was lower) then I don’t mind

Well with Onyekuru that isn’t an option as they would have the same work permit issues. And maybe with Lookman and Vlasic, no one else wanted them. They’ve both done well but in leagues that are hard to gauge quality. We’ve made a profit on both of them without them having played pretty much any football in the UK.

Solanke has Chelsea and the RS on his CV and a good record with the England U21. Ibe played a reasonable amount for the RS. Mings this summer is the maddest but he did well for Villa on loan. If Wilson goes to Bournemouth for £20m+ it’s because he did well for Derby last year. There is silly money to be had but it sort of depends on having done it in the Premier League or Championship.

We’d probably be able to ask about £25m+ for Davies if we were to sell him

Don't see how lookman's achievements at English youth level are worse than solanke. His successful loan at leipzig is at a much better level than wilson's. The annoying thing is them getting lucky when they're barely producing these players.

I don't think it will be harder. The work permit rules will most likely be a lot easier post Brexit (if it happens)

The situation now is that players from EU countries are free to come and go as they please. At the moment, EU players account for nearly 50% of Premier squads and 30% of Championship squads. To protect home grown players the FA have asked the home office to impose strict guidelines on issuing permits to any players from outside the EU.

Post Brexit, when all players from outside the UK and Ireland will need a work permit, the chances are that the guidelines will be less stringent. It will make it a lot harder to sign youngsters as you say, so you would hope that they maybe have a different system for them.

Why would a club overpay for a player who can’t actually play for the club he’s contracted to?

Any and every club will have us over a barrel for Henry.

We're making money on him. Chill.

I thought we'd get a bit more.

But add in the loan fees, we're probably looking at between £8/9m profit on him, more with bonuses.

Not the best, no. But still, if we want him off the books, then so be it. We've made profit without having to do anything.

Him, Robinson, Joe Williams and Vlasic will probably bring in combined fees of £27.5m. A fair chunk of that is profit.
