It's all very well to object to "sucking up to Murdoch". The fact is you can't win an Election with this type of media barrage against you.

I've not read all the replies on here but nobody I know wants another Tony Blair. JC has taken the party in the right direction in regards to policy, and i'd like a charismatic left wing candidate to take that on.

Well presumably it will have to be a charismatic left wing candidate who meets the approval of the murdoch controlled press.lol

Do you really think it is acceptable for the electorate to be told what to do by a privately owned press, though? Do you really think they would give a charismatic left wing candidate any more easy of a ride than they have given Corbyn?

What difference does it make if I think it's acceptable? The privately owned press sway, and nearly always decide elections and that is a fact.

Do I think they would get an easier ride? It would depend on the candidate, the list of alternatives looks bleak at the moment i'll admit.

You know the point i'm making. Corbyn has the odds stacked far too highly against him by the media. It will still be an uphill struggle for somebody else coming in, but to think JC has a chance at winning a GE is getting to the point of delusion now.

Well, rail renationalization (which is consistently popular, from every type of voter), more social housing and a right to buy for private tenants, the scrapping of tuition fees and living expenses loans and their replacement by grants for university students (ie: the system that worked perfectly well up until 1997) and getting rid of PFI by buying them out (which would save literally tens of not hundreds of billions over the lives of the deals).

Friend it is all very laudable but how is it to be funded? You will say increase tax rates for the rich, increase CT, increase Stamp Duty but that will not produce the amounts need for those ideas?policies. But that will drive people and business away and thus potential revenue will not be there. In fact good recipe for more avoidance and evasion. Add to that the Council House building (which I agree with) but it is about money. And please do not say borrow, we have been there before, and look at the consequences.

Policies have to be balanced.

Okay, which pres is publicly owned?

I get what you're saying and, sadly I agree that the media will try to destroy him and they'll probably succeed. But that would be giving up which is exactly what they want you to do. Vote for what you believe in, not the best of what's left.

Fair enough mate. I felt the same way when I voted for him last summer. It was a long shot then, but I fear it's an impossibility now. I know a few people who are saying the same as you, and are willing to go down with the ship. Which is fine. Rest assured it is sinking though.

£50 billion will cost more than £300 billion? Alright.

Well done, not sure where you got your figures from but to me it smacks of the ingenious schemes Gordon Brown had to cover funding and expenditure.

So how did you cost it and from what source.

Do you think the labour party can have the press telling us who we can and cannot elect as leader?

It's an interesting concept I think but I don't know how balloting just the owners of all the media outlets in a leadership contest would sit with the rank and file members. lol
