You're talking about the spillover effects. I'm talking about actually deterring the terrorists.

If the terrorists all cared about their families more than the cause, this threat would deter them. In general, they don't, so it wouldn't.

The spillover effects would be irrelevant if the threat actually deterred the terrorists. In some cases, it is our actions that denied the terrorists families and led them to become terrorists.

I know a person who served with British in Northern Ireland. They would blindfold a suspect in a helicopter and throw him out, whilst hovering 2 or 3 feet above ground. I wonder why so many republicans hated us?

It was directed to the people that devolved the thread. I was sincere. They were not.

To be extremely direct about it, they were not interested in a discussion, never were, and proved it.

I just pointed out that they proved all of those things.

It doesn't bother me. I'm used to it at this point. I've learned to just shrug it off. It took me a very long time to get to that point.
