It was directed to the people that devolved the thread. I was sincere. They were not.

To be extremely direct about it, they were not interested in a discussion, never were, and proved it.

I just pointed out that they proved all of those things.

It doesn't bother me. I'm used to it at this point. I've learned to just shrug it off. It took me a very long time to get to that point.
Tbf the comparatively neutral ”Trolley problem” brings up enough ethical quandaries and debates all by itself and doesn’t have half the emotional triggers (chucking families out of helicopters clearly means innocent kids being thrown to their deaths ) not to mention the political associations https://www.vox.com/2016/1/25/10828770/trump-terrorist-family-appeal

So what you're saying, though, is:

- I addressed a controversial claim about a major world problem that is already in the public domain
- I refuted it right off the bat
- I explained what would be necessary about the state of the world for that argument to be valid
- I got vilified for even suggesting that there might be a universe where that argument, which we all agree is false in this world, happens to be true

In a mere seven pages, we've explained what's wrong about discourse in this particular world in this particular universe. People shut down when emotionally triggered, and don't come back and reconvene later to discuss rationally what they learned from getting triggered emotionally. Instead, they make ad hominem attacks and try to shut the discourse down.

That's a lot more efficient than the novel that I've written where that is one of the themes, truth be told.

If we can put music to this we've got ourselves a hit.

This thread summed up in three gifs.

Not exactly.

Did Jesus teach you to try to tear other, confident people down? I don't seem to recall that one being in the Sermon. I seem to recall something about motes, beams and eyes.
I think you need to stop taking yourself so seriously mate. If you're really such a confident person then strangers taking the Mick out of you on the internet really shouldn't 'tear you down'.

It's not tearing me down.

There's this thing called standing up to bullying for what you believe.

You don't seem to be seeing the difference between taking the [redacted] and trying to shut down what other people have to say.

Lol. So you're redacting what you said about being 'torn down', but now you're being bullied?

Have a sit down and a Solero mate, cheer yourself up.

You're still not getting it.

You can't tear me down, because I am confident in what I believe. As noted, it took a long time to get there. That said, the ad hominem attacks are just bullying.

I don't need cheering up. I'm good these days. I write. A lot. I enjoy doing it. Truth be told, I even enjoy the nonsense. I learn from the bad input, as well as the good.
