Horse Racing

Tiger Roll confirmed for another go at Aintree.

Biggest public gamble of all time ??

....12-1 with SkyBet to win the X-Country and Grand National. Great horse, but not a bet I’ll be adding to my already lengthy Cheltenham portfolio, especially if running off a mark of 172 in the National.

Should have been called AfterTime to Study really.

Ran at 335, "I backed it at twice the starting price" posted at 355. Magic.

...ha, ha. Not at all bothered what you think. I remember you posting similar for Cheltenham. I posted a copy of the bets and you sent me a PM to apologise (which I accepted in good faith and didn’t publicise). You said then you need a holiday from GoT, I sincerely hope you are well now.

It really doesn’t matter.

Edit; just checked: actually 13-1 (enhanced Ladbrokes). Bet placed 4th September 18.31. It’s only coppers, but it’s a win.

....I highly recommend the Sporting Life best bets podcast. It’s posted every Friday afternoon on the Sporting Life website. I always do the horse racing best bets in a double and it’s genuinely fruitful.

Often quite short prices, but I back them blind. Yesterday Ben Linfoot gave Great Scott (I took around 8-1 for it with Hills) and Swindler (7-1). Both won, much shorter today and probably with R4, but I did 2 singles and an e/w double for a nice return.

Sporting Life podcast every Friday afternoon - highly recommended!!

....Listowel this week, i’ve been drunk and enjoyed my racing trips there on many occasions. I always think the Kerry National is the start of the jumps racing season, which is always good.

I’ll be in Spain on Wednesday but have had a little interest in Gwencily Berbas @ 35-1. Unfortunately, it might not get in the race but I was impressed with it in Hunter Chases last season and prepared to lose a few quid at that price if it doesn’t run.

I remember many years ago a horse called Monty's Pass won the Kerry National. I used to go on the Betfair forum and his owner, Mike Figgis, told everyone it was going to win the Grand National. You can imagine how popular he was come April :). He won a million quid backing it, not to mention the prize money.

....great story. I’m a visitor to the Betfair forum myself, but unfortunately not when Monty’s Pass was highlighted!!
