Horse Racing

It certainly is in reposte to the BHA.

I said it yesterday, Chuck Elliott and Gigginstown out of the sport. They do not belong in it anymore.
If that route is taken there would be very few left. How many racehorses are sent to factories every year because they are simply not up to standard. Elliot done wrong and is not a very nice bloke. But worse then this goes on every week .

....Cheveley Park Sud has confirmed a number of its high profile runners are moving from Elliott. That’s a little better as far as my portfolio is concerned (Envoi Allen, Quilixios, Ballyandy, Sir Gerhard), although it’s not ideal to move them so close to their big targets.

....Tiger Roll withdrawn from the GN due to ‘unfair weight’. The cynical in me wonders about this being a distraction to hit back at BHA.
They shouldn’t run him anyway. He’s clearly not himself and hasn’t been for a bit, but two grand national wins can do that to you i suppose . Why risk the horse when he’s clearly out of sorts and won’t win .

Over breeding is a big problem. In an ideal world the ones that are not up to racing class would go and live in a nice field and be looked after, but unfortunately life isn’t like that. Add to that horses are not cheap to look after.

Most of the horses on the open market are TB. Either ex racehorses or ones that weren’t good enough to be a racehorse.

As you say it’s an expensive business keeping a horse even if it’s just as a pet.
It would be interesting to know how many TB horses bred to race get cast aside and end up in a mincer somewhere in France.

The whole industry of breeding and selling horses needs regulating to stamp out this whole lack of respect to what is a beautiful species of animal.
