Horse Racing

Gordon Elliot seems a likeable chap but that’s shocking what he’s done. Don’t buy the explanation either. It’s a shame, and the consequences will be heavy I would have thought . Mick Fitzgerald was choking up when interviewed about it.
Never saw him as over likeable and would have come across him In the pt to pt scene many years ago..
I also think the bha could do with investigating more into the dealings of godolphin

Unfortunately I think there’s a very dark side to horse racing. Well I know there is, but I’d like to think it’s getting better. Why Godolphin ? Drugging horses ? Not big fan of the flat racing. Those young horses running at breakneck speed when their bones are still developing

If they are not making arrangments to transfer their horses out of his yard they are as bad as Elliott .
Gigginstown are sticking by him.
Cheveley Park are awaiting the ruling from the authorities. So they are saying for now its fine but if he loses his licence we will re consider .
3 of his winners today were for different owners. None of them made a stand either.
Bar an extremely long ban he will be still training a lot of good horses.
Thinking with their pockets , not their consciences !

I’ve only saw Peter Scudamore criticise him. I may have missed someone else but the silence is deafening and sick.
Where‘s AP, Willie Mullins, Nicky Henderson, Paul Nichols, Ruby Walsh, and yes, it has everything to do with them, show you care and call the fat rat for what he is.
Apparently I was wrong on this thankfully, according to at the races website the National trainers federation which represents British trainers have been getting calls from a lot of trainers who have vented their disgust. I hope he’s finished. Just one top profile in racing go’s public and the flood gates will open I think.

@Eggs you must have some of his in 2 weeks running for you ?

...it’s absolutely devestated my ante-post portfolio, Matey. I daren’t calculate how many of my singles & multiples are impacted by this (1 posted a Yankee on here back in October and all four selections were his). I’ve got huge returns at big prices on the likes of Galvin for NH Chase and even if bookies return stake (i don’t know if they will), it won’t make up for the time I’ve put in.

I love this sport & the magnificent animals that put their lives on the line for my enjoyment. Regardless of the impact on me, I fully support everything the authorities are doing to bring Elliott to account.

More cases/stories circulating as well.

There’s apparently a video/photo circulating of an amateur jockey who’s rode for Elliot in past laughing and joking whilst he gets on a dead horse. I won’t mention his name as it could be not true. If it is true though, things are about to get worse .

It's a bit rich listening to Peter Scudamore filling up about horses when we've all seen him and his mates whipping them like madmen in the final furlongs.

...he had a ride this afternoon, not surprised to see it’s a non-runner.

It seems that this kind of repulsive behaviour is common place behind the scenes.

No defence at all but I guess horse fatalities are quite common at training yards... maybe those involved in it are immune to the absolute heartbreak it causes the rest of us.

I would be willing to wager that some horses are suffering far worse abuse behind closed doors... to some they are just a commodity.

I’m sure the top race horses get treated like kings and queens... but what about the rest. Plenty don’t even make it to the race track... what happens to them and how do they get treated.

I love my horse racing but first and foremost I’m a lover of animals, especially horses. I find all of this quite disturbing and upsetting. It’s taken the shine off the whole sport IMO.

Yeah, Ruby went in full bore in an interview criticising Elliott.
