Horse Racing

…ah, it’s not a dump. I thought it was quaint. Not great for viewing. Spoke to Alan Ball who was standing alone on the lawn, so poignant given he was such a hero of mine & passed away so young.
You can tell they spent all their money on the Rowley Mile! I know what you mean though, it does have a charm about it. I prefer the courses with better facilities, like Doncaster and York.

I’ve just had a big bet on Sir Gerhard 4.15 punchestown on tues 5/6, for no other reason than it’s the class horse and I think it’ll stoat in.

…won the Ballymore over 2m 4f, there are a few who think this race over 2m will be a bit sharp for him. Saying that, he still should win & Mullins will have more of an idea if he goes novice chasing next year or is targeted at the Champion Hurdle. The race is a very interesting watching brief for me.

Looking forward to Punchestown Festival this week, I’ve had a few little bets but more focused on ‘win at Punchestown/Cheltenham’ market.

….I did suggest this might be a bit sharp for Sir G, he got beaten at Punchestown last year after winning the Champion Bumper. I was all over Mighty Potter for Chelts, never had a bet in todays race but taken aback he was 20-1.

I have MP in my book for next years Arkle @ 33-1, as low as 8-1 after that win (also Turners @ 40-1).

I'm currently in Newmarket. Mr F using up his Christmas present from me. Guided tour round the town including going on the gallops, the National Stud and the British Horse Racing Museum. We've also had a visit to a stable. O e of the smaller ones, a guy called Martin Smith. He showed us round himself. Lovely bloke. He told us he has got two horses running in the same race on Monday at Windsor. One called Shabs and one called Guitar. He says they are both in with a shout but is expecting good things from Shabs who he thinks should win.
Shabs came second Anj. 2-1 fav. Skybet website was down and I couldn't put a bet on so I saved myself a few bob. ;)

Oh no! Poor Shabs. His trainer was certain it would win. The other horse Guitar is nicknamed Brian in the stables. When asked why the trainer said they needed the name of a cool guitarist for him and who better than Brian May.
More aptly named after Brian the snail I would think.?

There's actually a horse called Brian the Snail. I've backed it a couple of times. Somewhat foolishly

If those first 2 home in the bumper can jump they could be special

….I put Facile Vega up on here @ 25-1 to win the Champion Bumper before it had seen a racecourse, I also took 66-1 for it to win that race & any at next years festival, so I have a very nice bet. Agree about Redemption Day, the two of them will be at the top of next years Novice Hurdle division.
