….January Cheltenham ante-post Yankee;

Good Land 8-1 Ballymore
Fact to File 20-1 Bumper
Favori de Campdeux 12-1 Bartlett
Billaway 8-1 Hunter Chase

Have to say, these monthly Yankees not looking so good this year although there is one that could still hit the jackpot.

Ante-post getting tougher after a few years of plundering bookies. I have loads of short favourites at fancy prices but not as confident in them winning as previous. Also, not too many exciting multiples on the go. Sky restrict me to 20p per bet, so I haven’t used their request a bets.

Happy to share my main book/bets per race ahead of the Festival if folk are interested.

I’ve got a couple of requestabets for Cheltenham which I backed way back last year. Reckon these are in with a shout?

Jonbon, Facile Vega and Constitution Hill to win any race @ 50/1. The other is similar, just replace Jonbon with Galopin des Champs @ 20/1.

Fingers crossed, eh.

Also have another with CH, FV and GdC to win & Flooring Porter and Demandrivingdouvan to place any race @ 80/1. No idea on that one.

….as far as I know Demandrivingdouvan hasn’t got an entry in 3 Festival Novice Hurdles so if he’s turning up, I expect it’ll be in a handicap. Elliott knows how to get them ready for one. The others are looking good.

….in January of last year was involved in a discussion about ante-post handicap bets with a bloke who seriously charges lots for his tips. It was something along the lines of how difficult it is to identify Festival handicap winners until near the race because you don’t know what weights etc they carry, never mind what race they’ll run in.

He said; ‘if it’s hard this far out, then look back in 2023 at the Boodles. From 14 months out see how far off I am with JAMESTOWN’.

Of all the races, the Boodles is a handicap for 4yo Juveniles. It’s for Juveniles just short of Triumph Hurdle standard. Back in January last year, Jamestown was an unknown 3yo but I put it in my notebook. I discovered early this season Jamestown moved from France to Gordon Elliott in Ireland & renamed Jazzy Matty.

Bottom line is, he performed reasonably this season behind prominent Triumph Hurdle types & amazingly is being backed for the Boodles.

I have no idea if Jazzy Matty runs in 6 weeks but the knowledge of that bloke tipping it up 14 months ago & it even being in the betting for the race is uncanny.

14-1 NRNB & BOG with 365 is worth a little interest. If it doesn’t turn up, you get monies back.

….this one has a chance, although there are doubts about targets for all of them (except Allaho who hasn’t been seen this season). Things should be clearer after the DRF this weekend;

….the site are doing a DRF Yankee (based on Dublin Racing Festival) & there’ll be one more at the end of February. I’ll post them but they’re not looking as good as previous.

I’ve started backing stattler for the gold cup. Only ante post am having. Gets within a few lengths of GDC this weekend then pretty confident at Cheltenham

….for anybody interested, here’s my Gold Cup book;

Galapin des Champs; 5 points win @ 20-1 (placed Dec ‘21)
Stattler; 1 pt e/w 22-1; 44 points win via a roll-up bet; 1 pt e/w 20-1
Minella Indo 1pt e/w 40-1
Conflated 1pt e/w 50-1

i hope GDC wins as the sport needs superstars but I would be concerned about his inexperience. He has won over 3m in his hurdle days but not run that distance over bigger obstacles. Hopefully Stattler is in the mix.

Funnily enough, this was the one I backed when you put it up last year. Currently got a slight profit if I cashed out today.

I’d backed one of the others, think it was the one with An Tobar but cashed that out months ago, even before he was ruled out.

I live in Calgary missed this one today
