How do we score?

Player Valuation: £50m
This has been bugging me for a while. I feel like we don't have a particular way of scoring. Even when Lukaku was fit we were struggling to create chances for him. I know it's good to be flexible and everything but whenever we're pressing teams i just can't see where the goal is going to come from.

For example:
Liverpool hit teams on the counter with pace, score loads from set pieces and have Saurez.
Man City, thread through balls constantly, cut back from the byline and have Aguero.
Chelsea score loads from set pieces, and have loads of individuals in midfield that can make the difference.
Manu can rely on Rooney and RVP.

All we seem to have is direct free kicks, shots from range and the hope that a 20+ pass team goal including back heels and numerous 2 yard passes within the area will get us through on goal.

I'm just not sure if keeping possession until the opposition have all their men behind the ball is really the best way to score goals. We hardly ever score from corners, indirect free kicks, crosses, through balls or on the break. Is this a major flaw in Martinez's tactics?

We don't score from corners because we are the only team in the league who stand off the defenders and don't hassle them like everyone else does.

Everton; we're too nice

good thread, mate...

...although i have no answers. Better players, maybe?

Starting to annoy me this. I'm stating the obvious here but goals win you games and we simply can't kill teams off, for example - Cardiff away, West Brom home, Palace away and many more. Today we should have won the game but sadly we can't put the ball in the net. Hopefully Traore will come in and make an instant impact...

Yep, so so so so so so so so so so so so so annoying.

Legitimate penalty not given, and the players can't be arsed even asking the question of the referee.

Even if he doesn't give the penalty it at least keeps the decision in his mind for the next 50/50 decision he awards.

But no, far too nice, rather just get on with the game.

Probably costs us 5-10 points a season.

Only if we can give him chances though. Feel like we'd be better off getting more early crosses in to the box and playing with 2 up front.
