How do we score?

to be fair...

Starting to annoy me this. I'm stating the obvious here but goals win you games and we simply can't kill teams off, for example - Cardiff away, West Brom home, Palace away and many more. Today we should have won the game but sadly we can't put the ball in the net. Hopefully Traore will come in and make an instant impact...

...Palace should have beaten us 3-0. We were extra cack that day.

we had two great opportunities from free kicks that got cleared far too easily, numerous corners, and if mirallas had passed to naismith im sure we could have scored from open play too

Not sure whether Baines practices deliveries into the box, but it sure doesn't look like it!

Generally we rely on our full backs to do something good and win the game. Used to be Baines, now it's Coleman. Structured play in the final third is the biggest hurdle for Martinez to get over. Hopefully he'll get further than Moyes did in eleven years.

We've struggled to create chances against most sides i think. If you take away our shots from range and direct free kicks i don't think we'd have that many.

I think we create plenty of chances mate. Plus we are pressing teams right back so were getting a lot more parking of the bus.

No problem with that, we got to find a way around it.

Not sure about that mate. We had too many draws. Apart from FA cup against lower league teams, we've been struggling of late.

The injuries have been the cause of that mate. Really hoping with a few of them coming back we should kick on again.

Fourth is an ask but not insurmountable. Regardless its been a decent season so far, better than I expected.

We need to nail the FA Cup ties too like.

The ****e across the park are scoring for fun mate. They are still capable of creating huge amount of chance when either sturridge or Suarez was injured. At some point they were missing Gerard sturridge and coutinho but they were still capable of creating chances.

They have a much better attack than us in fairness mate.

I can't help but think the difference is the attacking approach.

I wonder if Suarez plays in our system, will he score as much? Apart from Suarez, we don't have an inferior team compare to them.
Delboy = sturridge
Coutinho = mirallas
Gerard = Barkley
Our back 4 is certainly stronger.

So how can a team with almost similar quality have such huge difference in number of chances created and scored?

Are we too slow or too obsess with possession and our little short triangles that we neglect other approach to create chances? I'm baffled

I think we allow and encourage teams to park the bus though, which is great when we're ahead but not when we need a goal. I think the last game we created plenty of chances in was against Fulham which was nearly 2 months ago, and they're terrible.

Aye fair points but I think if you have Suarez in your team then you move up a level or two. Pains me to say that.

I think we play the better more expansive football but since Lukaku lost form we struggle to find the goals to show for it.

Its a personnel rather than tactical problem but we're hampered by our status quo.

I'm sure Martinez will be keen to address it in the summer.

For a first season we've made big leaps in our footie so I'm excited about the immediate future.

We created about four decent openings in the first fifteen minutes today mate. The problem is they fell to Osman and not a clinical finisher.
