How do we score?

It's the final piece of the jigsaw....the hardest bit and we'v not got to grips with it yet. It also requires very good players who we need a couple more of. Simples. We're still work in progress

Patience young Jedi!!

I think we would score a lot more goals if our players weren't so myopic when they get in the box.

It's all shots from difficult or even impossible angles when a colleague is standing two or three yards away like Naismith was yesterday but Mirallas elected to go for goal.

Seamus did a similiar thing....he cut into the box and two men to his left burt he shot weakly with his left foot rather than pass the ball.

This is killing us and IMO Lukaku has been demoralised by it. He could have had many more goals if Mirallas, Barkley, Barca lid et al had squared to him rather than shoot most the time.

All Baines and Pienaar do is pass the ball between themselves (with the fancy flicks) and do not cross the ball in.

This.

It is no coincidence that the purple patch we hit this season came about when Baines was injured and Oviedo came in.

Not only was Oviedo better at going forward and defending than Baines had been this season before his injury, Pienaar's game became more rounded as he looked for other options rather than play little games with his mate at left back.

It could be argued that Oviedo's injury has been the biggest blow of all the injuries we have had this season.

The team just hasn't looked as good without him.

I think why didn't united win last night is obvious. 82 crosses, well if they werent working the first 40 times......

We are too busy trying to play the game our way and sticking to the 'plan' so to speak. Liverpool did this last year in abundance and it cost them the same way it is costing us now. As soon as Rodgers took the shackles off they have battered teams, including us and are now comfortably above us in the league. We need to spend the money to compete if we want to free ourselves up. Goin ginto each season hoping the same lot of players suddenly get better is never going to work.

Lack of goals from our midfield is the problem.
Pienaar 1
Barkley 3
Barry 3
Osman 2
McCarthy 0

Lukaku score the same amount as them 5 put together
Coleman is our 2nd highest scorer over all, when ur RB is your 2nd highest scorer you no you have a problem

We lack a cutting edge and it's an issue that really needs addressing. It's been going on all season to be honest, most of our goals have come from wonder strikes / free kicks. We've been very lucky in that sense.

We need to shoot. I'm all for people being greedy (mirallas and deulofeu) are the two that do it mostly but in certain situations they should pass it. Mirallas should have passed in the first half to Naismith and it was 1-0.

I honestly believe we don't need a striker as much as I depise Lukaku. We need a playmaker. Barkley will be good but he isn't all that now

We're a full calendar year behind the radical change in the way of playing that Liverpool started to go down with Rodgers. but our players have picked up on the change much quicker than that lot over the park. We've already started the change to moving the ball around quicker since Martinez took over, but, as fans, we need to be a bit more patient and not expect everything to fall into place over the course of a single season.

Still dilly dally on the ball though. near enough all our midfield stare at the person they are passing it two for about 2secs and then release it.

I think we're just missing a ''plan B''. Our main plan is to play possession-football. We keep it sideways, we switch wings often and we got a lot of possession when we play. But when it's not working, we don't have a plan B. The substitutions yesterday we're bad ones, 2 wing players instead of adding a striker to push forward, which we needed. (I'm considering Deulofeu as a winger, that's were he plays doesn't he?) Barkley made no impact at all.

But, we have a limited squad right now, Traoré was obviously not fit for fight yesterday, and our main striker is injured for a few weeks. As soon as they get back I'm expecting goals.

Why was he on the bench then?

Well, Bobby will not change our style of play so he had better sort out the problem of slotting because otherwise we are going nowhere.

we had two great opportunities from free kicks that got cleared far too easily, numerous corners, and if mirallas had passed to naismith im sure we could have scored from open play too

That part annoyed me because Naismith could have easily finished that if it was passed to him
