Still 8 games left, so no reason why we can't finish the season with 52 points :D
dust off yer passports lads! we're going to Europe!!!....

(granted it's probably just for a pre-season friendly against Finland or training camp in Moldova, but small steps n all that) ?

Seven points is probably enough. That would require Burnley to go .500 in the best way possible (3 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses) to be able to pip us on goal difference. Watford would need four wins and a draw. Neither is at all likely.

The problem is that we need to pick those up against the top half to avoid leaving it all to play for in the last two fixtures. We're in vastly better shape than we were in before the weekend, but we did ourselves no favors by failing to at least get a result at Burnley. If we actually close that one out and back it up with the United win, it becomes almost impossible to see us going down.

I'm saying 36 tentatively, as I think that's what we'll get - 39 will defo do it.

Less than 36 and I think Ev are gone.

No team has ever survived with less than 34 off the top of my head.

31 has been the lowest believe it or not and 34 pts has been enough on 4 occasions. I think 32 could be enough this season maybe but I'd say its a slim chance. 36 is the average needed to stay up based on previous so to hit 36 points should have us fine all being well. We just need to string a couple wins together and that's us.

Leicester is a must win imo. If we lose, we're two games from a more favourable fixture (I don't see us getting anything at the RS and Chelsea have fourth to fight for). Burnley could gain some ground back, if not overtake us.

If we win and they lose their next fixture that gives some breathing space.

It was 29 last season.

In the last 5, the following total prevented relegation; 2020/21 - 29 points 2019/20 - 35 points 2018/19 - 35 points 2017/18 - 34 points 2016/17 - 35 points

If we beat or drew with Burnley then I don't reckon we would have beaten utd too. The mentality going into that game would have been completely different. It was the complete backs to the wall, last chance saloon type feeling that scraped us through that game.

Its a difficult run-in no question but if Mina stays fit and DCL finally gets over his
problems then I can see draws at Anfield and Arsenal.

Leicester are a really good counter-attacking outfit but a win would put us in the driving seat.

I just don’t get this confidence that Burnley will pick up wins from their remaining fixtures because they’re ‘easy’.

For teams in our position in the table there are no ‘easy’ games. Every single one of those games will be difficult for Burnley to win. I’m not saying they won’t or can’t win some of them but I don’t know why people hold an expectation that they’ll be turning some mid table sides over at home with ease. They’ll struggle in every single game for points, so will we, that’s the reality, we have to go game by game.
