This will change week on week, but at the moment I think it’s 41 points to safety. Which means winning 3 games out of 5 essentially. I think we can win the home games, but the away games will be so tough, we need to win one of them too.

I have basically factored that Leeds and Burnley will each get 6 points from their remains 12 available. I am hoping 1 or both of them gets less than that and makes it more comfortable for us

Just saw Brentfords final 3. If they lose to Southampton then it may work in our favour going in to the final day, providing we beat them.

They have Southampton H, then us, Leeds H

If we managed to get to 40 points then with Brentford and Leeds playing eachother final day we'd probably be mathematically safe as both can't win (assuming Leeds are still below 40 by then).

I do, people are saying they have a hard run, they play Chelsea at Elland road midweak a few days before the cup final, no chance Chelsea play a top side, then Brighton at home

No. Chelsea need points to stay top four and Champions League qualification; Arsenal and Spurs are breathing down their necks. Add to the fact that they've had a couple of disappointing results now and they'll be desperate to wrap up top four before their final two games of the season.

I said from the off that we’d need to be pushing 40 points.

It’s the bare minimum for me, personally, that we set out to get 4 wins. 4 wins got us go 40 points and if we go down with 41, well, what more could we have done in the run in?

Winning against Chelsea will hopefully give us the catalyst to push on.

Leicester falls nicely for us in that it comes right after their semi final in Rome. Their heads could flip flop either way. Agonising loss? Bad head space. Make the final? Buzzing or simply cautious incase of injury.

Palace and Brentford have done enough for me to ensure they’re on the beach. We need Goodison to turn up like Sunday.

Watford, worst home record versus worst away record, what could possibly go wrong?

If you set the bar high, even if you slightly fall short, it may still get you what you want.

As others have said, I think 3 wins from the next 4 would be enough to make us safe. 41 points hopefully takes us above Burnley, Leeds and Southampton going into the last game of the season.

I honestly thought it would be a low points total to stay up just last month. I didn’t think Burnley would get more than 34 points and we would scrape home with around 36 points. I thought we was finished after Burnley 3 wins on the bounce because I couldn’t see us beating Chelsea. Am glad Leeds have been reeled back in I think we will finish on 39 points. Hopefully that’s enough to stay up.
They might not get more then 34 points

Five games to play. Another 15 points has to be the target.
Obviously it's doubtful that we'll achieve that, but the point is, it it's still in our hands no matter what the other relegation candidates do.

This is literally the only thing to aim for.

It removes all permutations from the equation,
it stops us hoping for slip-ups elsewhere - and it stops us resting on our laurels if, say, we won the next 2.

Set out to win all five, and give it everything for those five matches. It’s the only approach.

We can count the points after 38 games.

8 points should do it (although it will be 'squeaky bum time'). I can see Leeds losing to Arsenal & Chelsea but beating Brighton & Brentford. Their inferior goal difference to us would keep us up. The problem is that we can't win away from home, so we're relying on beating both Palce & Brentford at home (never a given, especially as we can't score more than 1 goal a game) and picking up two draws from our 3 away games - and i don't think that's realistic. But at least we're in with a shout.

3 wins virtually guarantees it. That’s quite a tall order though because Arsenal away we can likely write off, which requires us to win 3 from the next 4.

We basically need Leeds and/or Burnley to get no more than 6 points each, so our objective becomes “win one more than them”. Ideally one of them needs to crumble though and get about 2 points. It’s not inconceivable that Leeds only get 2 draws until the end of the season. Any favours other teams do us, which have admittedly been in short supply lately, will be massive for us.
