3 wins virtually guarantees it. That’s quite a tall order though because Arsenal away we can likely write off, which requires us to win 3 from the next 4.

We basically need Leeds and/or Burnley to get no more than 6 points each, so our objective becomes “win one more than them”. Ideally one of them needs to crumble though and get about 2 points. It’s not inconceivable that Leeds only get 2 draws until the end of the season. Any favours other teams do us, which have admittedly been in short supply lately, will be massive for us.
Next Wednesday night we have a good idea what’s going to happen as we will have played twice. Burnley once and Leeds twice

Five games to play. Another 15 points has to be the target.
Obviously it's doubtful that we'll achieve that, but the point is, it it's still in our hands no matter what the other relegation candidates do.

That has to be the mentality. I think some thought a point against Chelsea would have been an acceptable return and kept us in it but getting all three should give the team a huge confidence boost which hopefully helps away as well.

Oh boy, I really to get my eyes tested. I thought this thread said, 'How many pets needed for safety'. All this talk about dogs of War!

Still think 38 will probably be enough, as even if Leeds get 4 more pts weve got the stronger GD

A win on sunday will relieve some pressure going into the Watford game, which really should be 3pts.

We need 9 points to be sure

And they need to be got from the next 4 games

Anything else and that final day is going to be touch and go
I really think if we need something last day we are gone. Shocking record away at Arsenal, even with a win last season

I could see both Leicester and Watford being draws which leaves us needing to beat both Palace and Brentford - neither are pushovers. The we still need something from Arsenal - its not a good situation.

Aim should be to finish on at least the same points as Leeds. If we are 3 ahead of them after the Palace game, we will be safe. An away win for us would be huge but two away draws and two home wins puts us in 40 points. Leeds would need to be on 41 - 7 points out of their next 4 games which include Arsenal away and Chelsea at home.

Before we lost to Burnley I said 36. Now I think it might be 36 only if Leeds slump and our GD wins out.

38 is now the new minimum, I'd rate us about 70% to survive on 38.

Or two wins. But it's immaterial - Lampard has an exorcism to perform this summer.

We need to be at least 3 points ahead of Leeds come the final day, which would mean regardless of results they'd go down on goal difference.

We'll know a lot more after their next two games. Any surprise results in their favour would be devastating but hopefully the natural order of things plays out and they get pasted by both Arsenal and Chelsea.
