How predictable is Moyes?

This is something I've been wondering about for a while, we all say Moye's line ups are quite predictable and that he should switch things around a bit more but I've been surprised by at least one player in each of our lineups so far.

So I was thinking I should start a thread where we all guess his line up and subs, every game. If he's as predictable as I'd expect, we should all get 10 or 11 every time. I think it'd be interesting to see just how often he actually surprises us and so presumably the opposition versus how often we can read him like a book.

My guess vs Wigan is that he'll play:

Howard, Hibbert, Distin, Jagielka, Baines, Coleman, Fellaini, Rodwell, Drenthe, Osman, Cahill.

And he'll bring on Barkley, Saha and Heitinga.

When you've got the players who can give you width (Drenthe, Gueye, Coleman) then you automatically become less predictable since you automatically get more balance in the side.

We were saying WE NEED A WINGER all summer... some somewhat longer.

As soon as we get one we look much more threatening. We could do with a right sided one in January too.

Whats predictable is the constant Moyes bashing recently.

Channel the hate in the right places FFS.

Kenwrong and Ancibebe.

I get angrier at Moyes because he's capable of doing better.

Anichebe just can't play football, Kenwright just can't run a football club, the tasks are too big for them and they're just not capable of it. I might as well get angry at my dog for not being able to pay the rent. At the end of the day, he's a dog and so limited in his resources.

Moyes I expect better from.

I'll take your Drenthe and raise you a Bilyaletdinov. Nailed on.

I know but if statements are a slippery slope.

"If we lose the next four games we'd be relegation threatened" and that sort of thing. Damon's right to call me out on getting angry over something that hasn't happened yet and might never happen.

But they are things that have happened in the past repeatedly. It's not like your assumptions are unfounded, mate.

And to be honest I doubt Damon was calling you out because you can't see the future. He was calling you out because you said something about Moyes that didn't praise him like a deity, so his natural Moyes-defending instincts kicked in.

I agree. I'm just happier when I have statistics to back up what I think is true from casual observation.

In American sports they call this the Eye Test. Statistics can only tell you so much, and can be manipulated to suit peoples 'agendas' (now there's a dirty word). The ulitmate test is whether something makes sense both statistically and according to the 'Eye Test'.

You're right.

I will say that the eye test is filtered through agendas and biases too. A lot of time what people see, and what certainly what people conclude, isn't what's actually true. You can prove that easily enough by looking at witness statements.

Or listening to talk sport, for that matter. To pick a randon example, Glenn Hoddle is constantly mentioned as being a flair player who has never given a chance by his country but if you actually look up the statistics, he got over 50 caps. It was just the london media had created an impression that people accepted even if it isn't true.

It's like to say the real proof is that something passes both tests.
