I think Mourinho has refused the full payoff money so that he can get working straight away. Abramovich would only pay up if he stayed without a job for 4 years and that doesn't look like it will happen

I thought he was on £163,000 or so weekly because Abramovic refused the payoff; the payoff goes away when Mourinho gets a new contract, but I assume Abramovic holds some power also.

Chelsea should go for Simeone but i think he will stay where he is.

Ancellotti is brilliant and will make Bayern more likeable as well...

Pep either to UTD or CITY. Seems destined for City with his mates there BUT think he may prefer UTD given their history...

If UTD dont get PEP im not sure who they would go for, clearly they need someone who plays an attacking style with wingers...

If i was them i would go for Del Bosque even if his style doesnt really fit Fergusons old one...

And therein lies Man U's potential downfall - just like Liverpool and Shankly, for decades to come every Man U manager will be in the shadow of Ferguson. Constantly seeking approval with no hope of lasting success - look at the success they'll all be compared to.

I know he became a whipping boy, but Moyes never stood a cat in hell's chance, and nether do their managers for the next 25 years. Potentially post-1990-LFC mkII here.

@WarringtonBlue I think we'll see a number of 'guised' press releases in the next few that will subtly show the predicament van Gaal is now in.

Sky are today reporting that Manure have stated that van Gaal will "hold his pre-match news conference as normal on Wednesday afternoon".

A short term reprieve but suggestions that his future over the next few days may not be as secure?

I don't really think him having an affair has anything to do with his ability to manage a football club tbh.

Personally I wouldn't be too happy if Duncan Ferguson (for example) got the Everton manager job if he'd done similar.
