Rooney in '04 was like man against boys. Had he not got injured we'd of won that tournament.

That is the tragedy of Rooney.

If it hadn't been for Sven whispering in his his ear and Stretford milking him for all he was worth Wayne would have probably stayed here for a few years and became the finished article before going to Madrid or somewhere and been played to complement Ronaldo instead of having to take on workhorse duties to accommodate Ronaldo at OT.

Rooney doesn't possess Ronaldo's pace but I think the Wayne Rooney we unleashed on the world and who shone so brightly as a kid at a major tournament was a more skilful footballer and managed properly would have been bracketed with Messi and Ronaldo this past few years.

Pat, Shearer, Baines, Scholes, Beckham, they all had more impact in England games than Rooney.

Not in a major tournament, they haven't.

Wayne Rooney was just awesome in Euro '04.....none of those guys ever grabbed a tournament by the scruff of the neck the way he did back then.

In fact, the only one of that lot whom it could be argued had more of an impact for England in General than Wayne is Shearer.....and as Rooney has now scored more goals than Big Al even that is debatable.

Of course I disagree. Everton players in England teams don't fool me into thinking England is suddenly loads better, it just makes me like England more.
