How stupid are Manu?

Is correct.

Also, what's with the Rooneh love-in around here? Is it just because he was a product of your youth?

Just feel sad that there was so much promise but does not seem to have blossomed. Gazza will always be remembered for that goal when he hood winked, I think henry was it? Has Rooney done anything like that which will be immortalised?

goal for us against arsenal ?

Agree with all that. Much like how Ferguson trained the unpredictably-wild flair out of Giggs in favour of a controlled-disciplined game. Can't argue against the man, as his success with these players and his teams will still be astonished over in 50 years time.

But to the neutral who just wants to see amazing players do fantastic things, Rooney could've been another Ibra, who plays his own game as one of the world's most entertaining players. Or even Maradona, who could come up with other-worldly skills regardless of opponent, or indeed the quality of his own team-mates (this is why Messi can never be judged as on-par with Diego).

Rooney was a genuine one-off in those heady first few months wearing our royal blue. Everytime he got the ball we all would gasp in anticipation as he so often did something extraordinary, even just little skills which bewildered his opponent. That slalom through Utd's defence was a dream.

Felt a bit sick when he left, tbh...I guess we all did.

no.

You have to take into account his poor England performances in the crunch games. It's no good scoring loads in qualifiers & friendlies if you're not gonna help your country out when it matters most. A single tap-in is the only World Cup goal he's scored...10 games or so in all.

Le Tiss was the most naturally-talented English footballer I've ever seen, but it's difficult to rank him as he was the epitome of NEA.

Shearer, Scholes & Beckham were overall superior players to Rooney. Becks is actually underrated because of his über-celebrity, if he was a quiet mouse like Scholes we'd be lauding him a lot more. I'd also rank Lampard & Ashley Cole above Rooney. Rio Ferdinand perhaps on par.

Michael Owen scored as many England goals as Wayne, but failed to adapt his game as he lost pace. Andy Cole is also be a touch below Rooney in the rankings due to not quite breaking through internationally.

Rooney would squeeze into the top 10. If we're talking only strikers, he may be 2nd (behind Shearer).

If we said 25 years he'd be pushed much further back: Gazza's best form was over 20 years ago, as was Linekers. There's also Tony Adams.

Roberto Larcos!

Haha...okay mate...love these English statements.

If it wasn't for this piece of bad luck, we'd have won the tournament!

See:

1986: Hand Of God
1990: Waddle skying it
1996: Gazza was this close, I tell ya
1998: if Becks didn't kick out, etc etc
2002: if Seaman could jump, ffs
2004: if Rooney hadn't got injured
2006: if they didn't have Ricardo
2008: erm...if they didn't have Ricardo

2010 was when it finally stopped being a thing, with fans admitting even if Lampard's phantom goal had gone in, German would still have müllered England.

LOL AT THOSE STUPID ENGLISH THOUGH.

LOL.

oh right, well in that case they're all sh!t coz they've never won anything

I'm joking, I thought we meant players who are english rather than players for england

Well I give you Rooney's goal for against Wenger's whingers but surely is also has to be about consistency doing it week in, week out now in the last couple of seasons or more Rooney has lived on past hype without doing anything really.
