How stupid are Manu?

Other images show riot sticks apparently being used the wrong way round, heavy handle first, in a way that seems premeditated to cause maximum damage. In the most shocking footage a woman in her early-20s is filming with her camera until a policeman snatches it and his colleagues wade in. Three hit her in the face. A fourth strikes her with his truncheon. She disappears and the legal documents filed by Imusa state that is her being flung down a stairwell.

Whatever your club allegiances, they are scenes that should appal any fan, especially those who follow their team abroad and understand the risks that accompany going to certain countries.

Yet it is not just Rome’s police who should be ashamed. United promised at the time they would do everything to help the fans who suffered the worst of the carabinieri’s “serious over‑reaction”. They put out a statement of condemnation and said they would be happy to forward fan accounts to the Home Office. And since then? “Imusa has had no assistance at all from Manchester United and they have not offered to help the affected fans,” according to Colin Hendrie, its vice-chairman. “Indeed, they have met us only once in the nine years since the Glazer takeover.”

Very similar to what happened in Lille that. Lack of professionalism and police discipline

Two police clearly punch that white haired woman in the face for videoing them.

Got home late last night, had an IMMENSE time at the United v Liverpool game. We were a bit lucky, has to be said - but we have match winners, Liverpoo don't at the moment.

Got waaaaaay too drunk though. Lost my phone. Ate too much junk food. Pizza. Burgers. Heineken. White wine (yuck!)

@DTguardian: Van Gaal, not for first time, slightly reluctant to praise De Gea. No clues on his contract either. "It's not open for discussion."

Noticed this after his superb display against us, LVG seemed to downplay his performance.

@Jim Lahey is it just a "team above individual" thing? LVG seems Ok about giving players specific critic, RVP for example.

Hmm very interesting that mate. I really couldn't tell you - you probably have a point in regards to team > individuals. He doesn't ever praise anyone, really.

He probably takes De Gea to the side on the quiet "You were good today, keep working hard." kind of thing but in public won't 'big up' any players. He's the polar opposite of Brenda, for example, who will come out with cringey stuff like "Steven Gerrard is the best human I've ever met and doesn't mind when I'm a few days late with the rent" and "Luis Suarez is WORLD CLASS - did I tell you he's WORLD CLASS? AND the best player ever, better than Maradona, Messi and Ronaldo".

LVG is arrogant but believes in his methodology more than any ONE factor. It's all about the machine, the big picture to him. I think.

@Jim Lahey

Quick question, obvious bias answer though lol

How good are United going to get? From my own perspective, giving the ball away so easy, tactics not working at the start and players not living up to the hype.

Has turned into

6 straight wins including us and kopites. YOung players coming into the team, players seem to have more freedom, better or worse for it. Scoring the clinical type goals that you used to be famous for, fantastic management of young and valencia it has to be said, and still not at full strength doing it. Can you see this side kicking on the same way chelsea has this season or can you see weaknesses still within in the team?

But yeah, valencia was brilliant yesterday i thought.

It all boils down to the defence. LVG will really have to address that in January and over the summer. I am sure he will, too - he's too much of an intelligent manager and not deluded to think that Evans and Smalling will take Man Utd to trophies again. They won't.

It was always going to take a while for Van Gaal's systems and philosophy to be implemented because he's all about keeping the ball on the deck, where and when possible. We were famous for "Get it to the wing, whip in a deadly cross and get one of the two strikers to score from it". Pace, power, being ruthless.

Van Gaal wants ball domination first, he wants possession footy and he wants the players to be able to adapt to different systems when the occassion requires. He won't stick with 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 - he will adapt to whatever playing staff is available and also what the opposition might do.

He's a very good coach and manager. I think we'll be challenging for the league title again not next season, but season after. Like I've said before, we can spend big on players and still adhere to Financial Fair Play because our gate income, sponsorship and worldwide following is so huge. So I predict we'll bring in a world class centre back in January, probably the summer - Kevin Strootman from Roma and maybe another right back.

So yeah, I think the future is bright. Still a long way to go in regards to building but we've done well considering we have had Di Maria, Shaw, Blind and Rafael missing for most of these wins.

if united dont challenge for the title next season he'll lose his job.

Well that's not true.
Ye it is. You'll likely spend another 150m. if your just hovering around 4th/3rd and not realistic title challengers he'll lose his job. I expect you to challeneg anyway and challenge this year too.

Not sure mate. He's got a 3 year contract - I reckon Fergie and a few others would have advised the owners to give him the 3 years too.

But who knows in modern footy?

Didnt Moyes get backed by fergie for 6 years? lol

Think it is damning for Moyes when Van Gaal winning with his team basically.

Hi, Jim, I'm a United fan too, lol.

Anyway, I think we have a great chance to challenge even this season. It depends heavily on where we are after the first 19 games. We must win the next three and see if we are 6-8 pts behind Chelsea and 3-5 behind City. If we are, we must take a chance and try to sign Diego Godin and Nathaniel Clyne, while do something about bringing Nani back. Besides these signings, we must ensure we don't have anymore injury crisis. All these factors can strengthen each of our department, defense, midfield, attack. Which may give us a massive chance to recover the points gap with Chelsea and Man City.
