He's been very good this season.... If I was being hypercritical I would still like him to be a bit more commanding on crosses and corners .... He's a big fella....should be knocking strikers and defenders all over the shop ..... Aside from that he's playing very well.

His distribuition has certainly improved, use to hate how he'd wait half and hour before throwing it out, now if he gets the chance he plays it quickly

His distribution from throws is largely excellent, you can tell he's played basketball.

The quick throw that led to the famous World Cup USA goal was ace.

In all honesty mate i think that is an issue, and as been for a while, with a lot of modern goalkeeper; there inability to command the box from set pieces and crosses. It seems to be getting coached out of goalkeepers

One of the best things about Big Nev was that if a ball was played into his area everybody would be on there arses and he would be standing holding the ball

One of my favorite moments in sports. Block, bounce, throw, counter, pass, pass, shot, US Soccer infamy.

The good stuff starts around :35.

Player of the season for me thus far.

And certainly out most improved player.

Seems to have really benefitted from the change of goalkeeping coach.

Admittedly, Howard has been doing really well this season. That said, I'm a nervous wreck when people take shots at him from outside the area because he is just so leaden footed. He's getting on a bit now so I wouldn't be too surprised if RM brings in someone else next season.

I didn't really rate Howard, but you know what....

Imagine having a job, and having no chance of losing it, your gonna drop off, and your work rate and commitment will drop, even when your sick, and your replacement does the job, perhaps a better job, still no threat, why try harder?

Now Martinez has came in, and he's said that's it, Joel is real competition, and if you're not up to scratch, well then i'll replace you, like he did with Al-Habsi last season (Note: He may not of said this, but you clearly know something like this has happened)! Howards game as a result has drastically improved, as shown by the clean sheets, is it 6 in 11 games? well if were keeping 55% clean sheets throughout the whole season, then we'll have 20, and that'll put us in good stead. I think a lot of people by now were expecting to see Joel in the sticks, but myself included, have been proved wrong!

It's obviously a big help to have a solid backline, but he has single handedly won us points at Villa, and been a rock too, so well done Tim, well done.

Howard has been superb for ages now.

A great goalkeeper. Easily up there with the best in the league.
