Oh Christ.

Just you wait till Uncle Sam sees this,

This made me guffaw.

I think Howard is a world class shot stopper and his reflexes are tip top as well.

However, you cannot be as shakey at crosses, and as prone to errors from long shots as Howard is, and still be considered to be at the top level of keepers.

Neiler slotted it.

And yes, Al Habsi is awesome!

realistically dudes, when are we looking new number one goalie?
How long contract Howie has?
Is Everton/Moyes happy with his work arm?

Not touching Neiler's list with a 10 foot pole since we all know I agree with Ijjy's list (minus Spurs, think Friedel is better).

Also - we're apparently teeing off on him for the one he missed - which indeed was horrible. But also not recognizing the great save he had when Coleman missed a header 70 minutes later. Figures.

Moving right along.

Just thought I'd throw this bomb on ...

Al Habsi only looks good as he has so many opportunities to do so. For every 3 saves he makes he makes a balls up.
Same with all keepers near the bottom of the league really.

Happens with every single goalkeeper. Happens with strikers, defenders and midfielders. For every brilliant piece of play they will make several errors. Managers too!

Exactly. But a keepers errors stand out as more often than not it leads to a goal...or is really funny...or both

Al Habsi gets the chance to make more saves so could look better.

Tim Howard = The new scapegoat

Yes he's been shaky at times... Always has thoroughly his career
But...
He makes some outstanding saves and easily saves us as many points if not more than he loses us.

His mistakes leading to goals have been totting up so far this season though...

That can be said about many a player this season tho...

Baines prob cost us first goal against s'hampton.
Naismith/Fellaini Leeds
Distin heitinga and jags , ossie has..

Gk mistakes stand out a hell of a lot more!

Even if he stays on his line it's going to be a goal. Free header from 4 yards, but this one's all on Howard for not reaching the unreachable cross? Please. His form has been down this year. I won't argue that, but he also played fantastic against Swans. He needs to play more consistent though.

Are you really trying to excuse him from that mistake? Everton first, countrymen second lid.

Well i'd take him over the keepers United have at present. Only really Hart you would say is clearly ahead of him as most of the rest make as many errors as Howard does anyway apart from Friedel but he is close to retirement. Overall standard of keepers in the league isn't great at present.

Lindergaard is one of the best keepers in the league IMO. WELL BETTER THAN HOWARD

I think we are beyond mistakes here lads - its a bit simplistic chalking it all up to mistakes if thats the case ability doesnt come into it at all. At what point to you chalk it up to ability and standard?

Its like comparing RVP and Jason Roberts, Jason Roberts makes more mistakes then RVP then but they basicaly have the same ability - is the reasoning im seeing here.

Would a keeper of basic Prem expierence have jumped over the ball at Newcastle, been left flapping consistently, been caught out of positition on more then one occassion, dropped the ball at the feet of a striker on the opening game of the season. All keepers make mistakes - somehow seems like our keeper makes them more then most and get basic bread and butter keeping look very difficult.

Im really at a loss here to see what he contributes to our team.

He's looking more and more like Gerrard every season. He's never been a player I rate but he's definitely getting worse.I was amazed that S'hampton didn't put a man on him every set piece. If you do that and the ball into the box is decent you're almost guarenteed a good chance of a goal. The biggest priority in our side is replacing him IMO.
