Howard does have the odd ricket in him but on his day is one of the best in the prem, he needs better competition than Mucha provides. The last time I can remember Everton having two goalkeepers of similar quality was in the seventies with Dave Lawson and Dai Davies, unfortunately, they were both average at best.

There are really good keepers out there if your prepared to find them. Bar Nigel Martyn, Davey hasnt done to well at picking up decent keepers over his time.

Mingnolet is a great example, hes a superb young keeper, i have watched him over the last few games and he has been the difference in Sunderland picking up points this season and remaining unbeaten - thats what a good keeper can and will bring to a team.

Ben Foster was available for sub five million this year and he has been again prob one of the best keepers in the league over the past three or four seasons. David Stockdale at Fulham is also another superb young keeper.

I think its possible to get excellent keepers without doing a Spurs on it and spending a fortune.

Hmmm interesting. Lets look in detail..

Arsenal: Schezney/Mannone - Howard wins I think
Aston Villa: Given - If Given was younger he'd win, but he's not. Howard wins.
Chelsea: Cech - has looked dodgy, so has Howard. Draw.
Fulham: Schwarzer - same as Given. Howard wins just.
Liverpool: Reina - has looked awful for last 2 seasons. Howard wins.
Man City: Hart - awesome. Hart wins.
Man United: De Gea/ Lindergaard - De Gea will be great over time but not convinced by the Dane. Howard wins.
Newcastle: Krul - Actually a bit ace. Close but Krul wins just.
Norwich City: Ruddy - Ruddy hell it's Soft Cell - Howard wins.
QPR: Cesar - done better than I thought he would so far. But Howard is better.
Reading: Federici/McCarthey - I liked Federici it last year but he's been dodgy and McCarthey is young. Howard wins.
Southampton: Davis/Gazzinga/Boruc - Even Saints fans hate all their keepers. Howard wins.
Sunderland: Mingolet - Belgians lads - Mingolet wins just.
Spurs: Friedel/Lloris - no idea why they got LLoris. I can't decide on this one.
Stoke: Begovic - never rated him - Howard wins.
Swansea: Vorm - been very good but he's short isn't he. Close but Howard wins.
West Ham: Jaaskelainen - Been a bit better for West Ham than Bolton but Howard is way better. Howard wins.
West Brom: Foster - Decent keeper, but makes mistakes. A draw.
Wigan: Al Habsi - Makes amazing saves because he has to. Howard is better. Howard wins.

So yeah... You're right actually.

This I agree with. Mucha hasn't given me any confidence in the cup games he has started. Howard need a promising hungry goalkeeper that will want to take his jersey from him to improve. As Micknick stated above, there aren't many goalies in the league better than Howard, Hart is the only one I would like to swap him with.

Can't understand how many here put so much blame on Howard. Yes he did a huge blunder this game against Southampton but so did our defenders. He did save some very remarkable saves against Swansey and in the other games too. Everyone makes mistakes and alot of the times the opposition have scored it's from mistakes from our defenders or midfielders so Howard has been placed in bad situations.

Id disagree with about 95% of that if im honest mate.

Sunderland: Mingolet - Belgians lads - Mingolet one of the finest in the league imo - Mignolet
Spurs: Friedel/Lloris - Lloris definitely better than howard, as is friedel who gets better with age
Stoke: Begovic - never rated him - Howard wins, same
Swansea: Vorm - would love him as our next keeper, outstanding shot stopper and good with his feet, vorm
West Ham: Jaaskelainen - howard can take this one.
West Brom: Foster - Decent keeper, but makes mistakes. A draw - agreed
Wigan: Al Habsi - based on last season al habsi took this, but howard gets it for consistency

Howard Vs Cech - really? Anyhow the keepers i would have over Howard honestly would be.

Arsenal: Schezney/Mannone - Schezney everytime.

Aston Villa: Given - Given - right is not as young and is fading but would have over Howard, Guzan looked good as well, havnt seen enough though.

Chelsea: Cech - Not a debate tbh - Cech.

Fulham: Schwarzer - Schwarzer everytime - superb keeper evident this season - id have Stockdale over Howard as well. Wish we had signed him when we bid for him.

Liverpool: Reina - Reina everytime you big loon.

Man City: Hart - awesome. Hart wins.

Man United: De Gea/ Lindergaard - More to come i agree, but if Howard was better then either would still be there and Utd would have circa 20mill in their back sky rocket.

Newcastle: Krul - Actually a bit ace. Krul wins.

Norwich City: Ruddy - Has done really well, a wait and see. Draw

QPR: Cesar - Never rated the lid but has done better then i thought he would - draw.

Reading: Federici/McCarthey - Do not rate at all, Howard.

Spurs: Friedel/Lloris - no idea why they got LLoris. Friedal one of the best in the league for me - superb keeper, have always been impressed with Lloris, see how adjust in the prem. Both a million times better then Howard.

Stoke: Begovic - is a terrific keeper, id be made up if we got him, bags of natural ability and still young - Bego every day.

Swansea: Vorm - reminds of Howard when he was in his best form, a bit overatted for me - draw.

West Ham: Jaaskelainen - excellent keeper in his day and form has been superb - goes into the Given, Friedal borrowed time category of wind down - but still doing it. Better then Howard on peak.

West Brom: Foster - Not even a debate - one of the best in the PL. Far better.

Wigan: Al Habsi - Prob one of the most underatted keepers in the PL for me, brilliant keeper, Al Habsi every day - would love us to go for him.
