'Howard's Way' Film

Without a doubt my highlight of the lockdown brought back so many brilliant memories. My lad watched it with me and it was great to be able to show him that we really were a great team if only for a few seasons until we were stopped from forging ahead because of the European ban (which i wont go into). Big Nev said it all we would have gone on to rule the roost for the next five years and i can't argue with him i think we would.

I haven't seen the film but I have been crying pretty much ever since 1995 too.
After the Cup Final against Man Utd I was in the bar when I spotted the three players who were off to the England camp - Reidy, Trev and Gary, sat down on the floor leaning against the wall. They looked shattered. I tried to talk to them but they gave me the thousand-yard stare and I walked away. My London accent didn't help but I can't imagine they wanted to talk to anyone.

When you look at how long you get between the cup final and European ones nowadays just shows how we got screwed. If that period of success in the 80's was in the 90's we would have been minted and like the top teams able to cover expenses by sponsorship.

Probably thinking
"Why didn't we stay off the p#!$ after Rotterdam"

Watched it last week. Few things I noticed. The physicality of the game then. Gray and Ratcliffe kicking out against Bayern, Gray should have been sent off. Sheedy’s composure on the ball for our third goal against Bayern - class. Finally just how bad Marwood’s challenge was on Heath. He came back from it, but he never reached the heights of that season.

Inappropriate Language
I have often thought that if we had been the supporters that day in the Heysel and it was us who had chased those 39 Italians and 1 Belgian to their
deaths, how would we have shown our horror to what we had done. Some things have to be paid for: Like this American women a few Months ago
that killed a young Englishman whilst she was driving on the wrong side of the road and knocked him off his motorcycle, she should have returned to
England to apologise to the lads family! Never mind this diplomatic immunity rubbish! In 1984 WPC Yvonne Fletcher aged 25 was shot and killed from a Libyan embassy window in Westminster, yet another murdering [Poor language removed] gets away with it through Diplomatic Immunity! I am not citizen Smith or some
do-gooder, but If I was one of those supporters in Heysel on that day, I may not have given myself up then, but I know for certain that I could not live with
myself for 35 years without some sort of apology in Turin.

Bill has his flaws. But that was a show of emotion from a man, who despite his flaws, during his tenure as chairman, loves Everton very much.Shame on you for making fun, of what was a very touching moment.

My apologies, I was trying to be flippant rather than offensive.

Edit: Oh hang on, it's Rangers supporting Corky. If it's all the same I won't take lessons in sensitivity from somebody who passes off the BOuncy Bouncy as a bit of fun.
