'Howard's Way' Film

Bottom left of team photo I have been going through our amazing team/squad and I think it's our physio John clinkard/magnum. I cannot think who else it could be anyone?
It is John Clinkard, he was the 1st one interviewed after the film ended. At the end he said " I looked like Magnum back then, now I look like one of the Chuckle brothers " ...great night.

It all changed in late 83 not 84
After watching a 0-3 defeat away to Ipswich in September i wrote a 6 page letter to Howard telling him what was going wrong.
He listened and the rest is history...

There was a lovely story from a guy on the Guardian boards under Kendall's obituary where, after a dismal defeat, he wrote to him saying the players weren't fit to wear the shirt and he'd do a better job himself... Kendall wrote back offering him a trial and put him in one session with the youth team until he was blowing out of his arse, then let him shadow him for the first team's session.

Took him for lunch afterwards and said "So you see, we are trying!"

Lovely story.

Sorry to put a downer on this thread, but it wasn't for me.
Derek Hatton was in it more times than our greatest ever manager.
Started poorly by bringing back memories of the first time I was stood in the Kippax as a 14 year old, and Bryan Hamiltons disallowed goal, 4 years before Howard became manager, what was the relevance of that.
There were plenty of poor results in the dark days of the early Kendall era, but they manage to throw in he 5 nil drubbing by the RS.
Lots of great footage from the pitch left off in favour of repetive interviews and to top it off, tiny tears Kenwright just had to get in on the act at the end, when he was never part of our club during that great era in our history.
A big let down for me, but great to see the greatest Everton team I had the privilege to watch back together again.

What a brilliant night and brilliant film. That team/squad never reached their full potential imo, and we all know why. There was an 'eerie silence' when the tradegy at Heysel was on. As an Evertonian, those 3/4 years were absolutely brilliant and you can see the pride in the players when they spoke about it. Two of the great managers, Brian Clough and Sir Alex both said we would have dominated. Not sure if we, as Evertonians, will see the like again, but heres hoping.

But they brushed over the last 2 years of Howards reign, no mention or footage of putting 6 past Arsenal or 5 up at Newcastle on new years day, Inchys volley against Leicester, the footage is all available

Or 4 nil against City and Chelsea, to show how we dominated every team in the league.
We beat the RS 3 times in 9 months, Wembley, Anfield & Goodison, but no sign of Paul Wilkinson or the footage of his winner, yet its out there,
Wark missed a pen for the RS the same night

I have yet to see it but one reason may be costs? The footage may be out there but it all has to be paid for and the amount may depend on who has those particular rights? Whereas a talking head interview conducted by the filmmakers won't have the same cost attached.

Just my opinion, but I think it was more about the lead up to the team that won the CWC and what could have been.
