Which begs the question why are we persisting with martinez?

Because if/when we turn it round and start playing with confidence, he's the perfect manager with the perfect philosophy (hate that term) to get a talented bunch of players turning teams over regularly.

I just wish he had the ability to know when it's not working and to just battle out of a slump, because without that mindset once you start digging a hole with your poor form, you don't climb out of it - you rent a JCB and dig it deeper!

I actually agree mate.

But I do have a question. I think we had a chat a while ago about how Javier Hernandez isn't right for the way we play.

But now neither is Lukaku. Very different player to Hernandez.

What type of striker does fit the way we play??

Honest question as I have no idea anymore.

Oh, we just need a new breed of striker that can come to collect the ball from his centre backs and take on the entire opposition mate.

An evolved version of Messi if you were.

Kone is to be honest. Holds the ball up very well -- arguably the main task -- and is very comfortable running the channels and cutting in from wide positions.

Yeah and Kone. Didn't see it coming but he's already shown enough in his game to suggest he's leagues ahead of Lukaku in playing a team system.

Anyway, enough "Lukaku bashing" (apparently that's what pointing out his problems is!) - let's keep the fingers crossed for a 2-1 win. It's not the time for a flowing thrashing of a team, just grind one out lads FFS

I predict 2-1 to Hull, be funny to listen to Martinez claim we're ace after yet another defeat.

Maybe the lad needs to learn to shut his grid and let his football do the talking.

If I was Martinez I'd have dropped him too. A kid you give an opportunity to tries to be a smart arse in the media about your team talk. Well in Roberto. Put him out on loan if need be.

No player can start those tricks with a manager.

Rubbish Dave, you do not know why Garbutt is not in the team, you are speculating. You do not know what was said behind closed doors. Any decent manager with some one so young would have taken him aside and had a quiet word to put him right for the future. If as you intimate then this would be vindictiveness and that is not a good reflection on the manager.
