Looking back I think that was the first real disappointment I had to endure as Evertonian.
Actually, I think we played in amber in the 1970 Charity Shield and beat Chelsea???Alan Ball, Colin Harvey and Howard Kendall all played in it.
True enough, that evening against the same opponents some 24 months later made up for it....although you didn't have long to wait for a big party!
