Interesting the debate between taking a “risk” and going for somebody with a track record.

I would rather we took a chance on somebody perceived to have the ability and a bright future ahead of them rather than somebody steady whose record doesn’t indicate anything of particular note.

It doesn’t have to be either or provided the club does its homework but this is always my worry with Everton. The shortlists always appear to be limited and uninspiring. The guy down the road will do us. The guy out of work. The guy with 20 years experience but who has won little or nothing. Bringing in somewhat of a left field manager would at least show that the search process was broad and well considered. Of course it might not work but things aren’t working now. Wenger came from Japan.

For the record, i will get behind whoever they bring in, I actually got behind Allardyce and would have still been behind him if he had just done what he was brought here to do, and gone quietly after the West Ham game. But he is such a bell, he just cant shut up and so i am desperate to be rid of him now.

I wouldnt be horrified if we got any of the names being touted except for Arteta and Vierra!

Fat Sam is a genius compared to Silva. Sam took Palace who were bottom at Xmas and saved them; similar at WHU and he has helped save EFC
this season. He got the boot at NUFC who went down the next season. And Silva...?

The issue is whether Sam is good enough to take off the fireman's kit and put on a trophy winning suit.

Not all that is Silva glistens..

I'm probably in a tiny minority that rates Allardyce quite highly as a manager. If you look at his achievements against available resources then he makes a strong case. So he may well be better than Silva who is largely unproven and has a 'flavour of the week' feel about him.

I just think SA has a massive image problem that is near to impossible to ignore. Short of winning a trophy he will never persuade a big chunk of the support and he's shown little signs of winning a trophy given his prioritising the league to such an extent. That's the biggest argument against him staying. He'll probably wring the most amount of points possible from a squad, but it may not be great to watch unless he stumbles on another Jay Jay Okocha or Youri Djorkaeff, even then it's likely to be functional as often as inspirational.

I think Moshiri is here for the short term, he wants the stadium built and full of happy supporters watching attractive football ready to sell the club. Allardyce is going to be seen as too divisive and not inspiring enough. Dour keeps you up but it doesn't attract commercial partners?

Can who ever is the new manager please please please please please not play 2 defensive holding midfielders in every game!

PLEASSSSEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Wenger with Arteta as Assistant and to eventually take over?

I wouldn't mind that to be fair, we would improve a lot under Wenger for 3-4 years it's just wether that would be long enough for arteta to be ready to take control as I don't think Wenger would be still managing after that time

I think the summer will go one of two ways - we'll either appoint a low key appointment like Fonesca/Silva with brands coming in.

Or

We'll go big and convince Wenger to come in with the media standing up and taking notice.

Either way Alladyce is gone imo
