Silva has left every club post Estoril under a cloud. But go ahead and appoint someone who spends an average of a season at a club (and that is being generous including Watford and Hull). His record at Watford is rubbish, slightly better at Hull, typically excellent managing Olympiakos in the one-team Greek League.
A couple of things...Fonseca currently is top of the poll for next Everton manager on this very thread...Someone who has had 6 clubs since 2012.
Again...a tentative link to this thread..but talking hypothetically, it would be interesting to hear your views on how the likes of Fonseca, Mourinho Emery et al would have fared at Hull or Watford?
Do you think they would have done a significantly better job....

So just to clarify, people are ok if we take a flyer on Viera, Silva, or Arteta all of whom have done nothing of note as managers but not Howe despite him being young and having actual legit experience and getting a team of league 1 players to play actual football for years? Someone please explain.

Has to be emery as first choice. Acheivements with Seville are amazing. Much more impressive than fonseca.

Silva doesn’t hang around much and his defence isn’t sound.

He is the best of the options listed it's not even close I just hope that someone on the board is doing their homework on all the prospective candidates.

Hold on here mate.

Marco Silva went to Hull and saved them from relegation. Oh wait.

He went to Watford and turned them into more than just a bottom half relegation worried team. Oh wait.

Silva went to Hull when they had no chance of staying up..Phelan had more or less taken them down.
How do you think Fonseca Emery or Mourtino would have faired if they had been the manager of Hull in those circumstances?

For the record I would pick Howe before Viera and Arteta, personally, both would be a major, major, major gamble, not a single manager we would appoint wouldnt be a gamble, but I would honestly prefer to appoint a manager with more than 6months experience.

Silva im not overly keen on, but I would probably take him before Howe.

Silva doesnt just have a fancy name and wears designer suits, hes got experience of winning trophies in Europe and experience of being in charge of clubs with a big stature.

Howe doesnt have a fancy name and wears trackies, hes done utterly superb at B'mouth and hes still very young, but how would he handle the pressure? He lasted 9 months at Burnley, granted he was younger back then and its a cliche, but managing a team with no expectations is a far bigger job that managing Everton. He would be under more media scrutiny and the fans, my God the fans.

Hes also never won a pot, now again thats unfair cos hes still only 40 and "only" managed Bournemouth, but its gotta be a factor.

We could certainly do worse and I would very interested in him joining a "bigger" club and seeing how he got on, but I would prefer that club NOT be Everton.

Largely agree with this . Howe seems a nice bloke and has done very well with Bournemouth, though not quite on the shoestring his advocates make out. He plays attacking football with a deeply suspect defence. If he came to us I'd have no problem getting behind him.
But that whole Burnley episode will always count against him. A manager who has already legged it from the rugged North for the comforting safety blanket of the Tory south will always arrive with a bigger than usual question mark over him.
When there are other managers to turn to ,he would be far from my first choice.

That Italian guy did better at Watford last season and still got the sack!
