Think you need to watch the doucoure goal again they are virtually together outside box, with gana goal side. His job as our defensive midfielder marking their attacking midfielder, was to track him and stop his run, block him drag him to the ground making it look like a coming together. So I blame him 100% for that goal, because like I keep getting told. It’s not his job to score or assist. And it’s not his job to play killer forward passes. He’s our defensive midfielder.

He was supposed to man mark Doucoure, is that what your assessment is?

Look, I know you don't like the guy, but you are being ridiculous. No one is comparing him to Kante, no one is saying he's world class.

But he's still pretty darn good and we have ZERO replacement for him as-is. We looked HORRIBLE when he was out, so it's a big risk. And Gomes has been playing as a defensive mid at times in our tactics, so Gana in many cases is having to deal with his lack of pace. Gomes also needs to stop fouling incessantly, at least Gana isn't doing that. Anyone can tackle if they are just knocking people around.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't £40m supposed to be our valuation? I too doubt that they'd spend £40m on 29 year old Gueye. Anywhere upwards of £30m is a good deal for all parties IMO

Bad, bad deal for us if what's reported is true. Of our four permanent midfielders (Gana, Schneiderlin, Davies and McCarthy), he is the best by a street.

If we had a few good midfielders or if they were going to pay a massive fee then you could see it being worth our while but neither are true.

Their attraction to him is that they see him as a cheap option. We should not even entertain selling one of our best players for £25m when the RS sold a kid who never plays for £19m last week.

If he goes and say Barrios comes in, what happens if the Premier League finds him out like it did Klaassen? What happens if we get to the summer and Gomes gets poached by another team in the Champions League?

Klassen was brought in by the head of P.E in a primary school.This kid will be brought in by the Dean of a University

Lads - you're both making good points but at the end of the day it comes down to if Silva and Brands see him as being key or not. It's doubtful but you never know if they have someone lined up or if someone they want becomes available this window.

Honestly I've seen it all now. Possibly our most important player as seen in the spurs game and you say you would consider 20 million in this modern day transfer market. Wow

Cya pal. Hes a good player but hes in the team to protect the back four and I dont think he does that well enough to warrant keeping hold of him if theres a good offer on the table. We've conceded an insane amount of goals in the side since hes been part of the defensive unit so I'm not arsed one bit if he goes. We should be prioritising getting schneiderlin off the books though. Centre mid really is a mess.

Mendes is an interesting shout, he would give us something different, but Barrios is not in Gana's league. Not sure Mendes can get a work permit, though.

Unless it is Gana himself pushing for the move then I can’t believe Brands would consider selling one of our consistently top performers. Sure there maybe an over-inflated bid for him but aren’t we supposed to be loaded now?

I like him. But his game relies on him being really busy and getting himself about the pitch all game, as he doesn’t possess the positioning/awarenesss of say a Gareth Barry.

Without sounding all Zatmonster, he’s getting to the age where he will maybe lose a yard of pace, which could affect his game massively.

If we can get anywhere near the money being quoted for him and replace him with someone younger/better then it’s good business.

Really? He is oneof the best at this,it his only stronhg point and why PSG want him.
Without him we;d have conceded MANY more goals.

If he attempts it, he gets judged on it. And some of his attempts are now only visible to the Hubble deep Space Telescope. Silva has said he wants goals to come from all positions so we can assume he encourages Gomes and Gana to shoot when they can.
I do rate Gana though. He's great at what he does and we will not find it easy to get another player in who can break up play as well as he can, but he does have his limitations.

Yeah of course he does, as does every player.

I do feel that having a go at his shooting is like saying that Ademola Lookman doesn't save enough penalties though.
