Honestly I've seen it all now. Possibly our most important player as seen in the spurs game and you say you would consider 20 million in this modern day transfer market. Wow
It makes me laugh, how you and a number of others bring up the spurs game.

What difference did he make last season, when we got battered by Arsenal x2. Spurs x2, Utd, Southampton, was it Atlanta 5-1 at home? I haven’t checked to see which of these games he played in, but I would imagine he played in quite a few.

We should be getting more than 20mil, but it should be an easy decision for silva & Brands.

We really should be scouring their squad and looking for a player or two in return. 20m plus a 15m-rated player would do nicely.

Unless it is Gana himself pushing for the move then I can’t believe Brands would consider selling one of our consistently top performers. Sure there maybe an over-inflated bid for him but aren’t we supposed to be loaded now?

A huge gamble if there is any truth to the rumours.
Brands is not working on short term thinking, we realistically are not challenging the top 4 anytime soon, at best it will be 2/3 years by then Gana is 33. I can’t believe Brands & Silva would not sell for a ridiculous fee.

We may be loaded, but you also have FFP and commercially we are miles behind the top 6. To make potentially a 25/30mil profit is a no Brainier.

To me the difference is in relation to our performances this season. In games against the other big sides where he played we competed quite well, when he didn't play we got smashed. It might be a genuine coincidence, but it might not, so I can see why people are saying it.

This is what I was saying yesterday, i'm not saying every side in the world needs a Gana, or that we always will, but in order to play the way Silva is setting us up, and in order to accommodate players with the lack of mobility of Gomes and Sigurdsson, you need someone who covers a lot of ground and does a huge amount of defensive work. I saw people saying we need a Pirlo type player to replace him. While that would look lovely when we were pinging 50 yard passes around, it would backfire pretty spectacularly when teams got past our initial press and found they had 60 yards of space to run into. I've said before, i'd take an offer of £30m+, but I would want someone coming in to replace him who offers some of the things he does, preferably with a bit more passing ability.

The money is too good to turn down and if we get a decent replacement in that is a better player with the ball everyone is a winner. I like Gueye but every player has their price and that is a more than acceptable amount.

But if we get a "decent" replacement who is better on the ball then we are not really filling the hole he leaves.

Depends how much we want to trade off really. Do you lose the defensive side to get more going forward? Do we have someone else who can fill that defensive role? Should we not have enough going forward anyway?

It won't happen anyway.

Really? He is oneof the best at this,it his only stronhg point and why PSG want him.
Without him we;d have conceded MANY more goals.
I just genuinely dont see it. He picks up loose balls and protects the back four that way but there are so many times hes out of position or players just go past him. I cant look past those instances and rate him highly because of it. I do like him, hes a hard worker and closes down well, picks up lose balls because hes relatively fast but his general positioning and passing especially infuriate me. Simple passes given away needlessly and we are under pressure.

If theres someone out there we can get in who the managment feel can slot in now then I'm all for it. Theyve been spot on with every transfer so far this season and for me hes flattered to deceive. If he stays then 100% will get behind him because he does give everything for the team, I just dont think hes good enough as is. At the end of the day he was 7mill so shrewd business regardless and hes probably one of the few players over the last few years who can hold his head high, simply for actually putting the graft in.

Fair enough, there is only one player in the league who dispossess players more than him (kante). No one else is even close I think.

Yes, his passing is very suspect but, for me, the amount of tackles and interceptions he makes totaly cover for this. He will be very hard to replace in a defensive sense and I think we will regret it for a while.

One of the biggest clubs in Europe want to buy him, thats all you need to know really.

it shows they are desperate to fill the void left by rabiot, said this yesterday gueye is one of the best at what he does and for a team like PSG he will be the perfect player for them in them hard champions league games and will probably be benched for the walk in the park games they have most weeks in the league, for us we need a more all rounded player

If he is going to PSG its got the smell of a kenwright sale all over it to me. If we want to replace like for like unfortunately we are limited to say Kante as the nearest to him as a ball winner, just can't see us buying Kante really. At this point he is more important than a transfer fee to our development and progress.

From his point of its hard to turn down, as at his age he won't get a better chance to play for a cl club
It will be interesting to see how this unfolds and whether things get ugly
