If he is going to PSG its got the smell of a kenwright sale all over it to me. If we want to replace like for like unfortunately we are limited to say Kante as the nearest to him as a ball winner, just can't see us buying Kante really. At this point he is more important than a transfer fee to our development and progress.
No it wouldn't, it will be down to Brands and Silva.

Think he would be a big loss. He is amazing at his ball winning skills. Fair point in he is poor on the ball and gives away far too much possession. If he can cut that out and just get the nice simple passes completed he is an addition to any top team.

Unhappy to see him go if he does. Only plus is if we replacehim with some one better on the ball and close to him in ball winning

His weakness cancels out his strength. I like Gana, but if we can replace him with someone who uses the ball better, that's better for the team.

to be honest is a gamble? centre mid s a crowded position there are so many options over the world to buy as a replacement to gueye ( it's not like finding a striker which is a lot harder )

were not finishing in the top 6, nor are we going down would it not be more sensible to do the deal now and bed a new player in for a few months so we can start next season with the new player ready? rather then starting the summer selling a first team player, then finding a player then bedding him in, having gueye now for 6months not arsed knowing he's going to PSG

if the money is good and he wants to go ( and like you said have someone lined up ) I'd sell

There aren't loads of options that are as proven as he is and as good as he is at what he does well. The season's in the balance and there's plenty still to play for.

With how Silva sets up, it has been evident when Gana hasn't played that we've missed him.

Not really, though.

Because when Silva's system has clicked, Gana has been tasked with solely defending. Gomes has been the player running the show.

Burnley 5-1

Burnley 5-1

And we played a 3-4-3, against a side that skipped out midfield anyway, so the need for him wasn't all that great. As others have said, he's not required in every game, if we play well and find another system.

But 3-4-3 isn't Silva's go to system. And in Silva's go-to system, he has to play, otherwise:

City 1-3
Spurs 2-6

It needs to click to a higher standard though, that has to be the aim. I wouldn't let him go without an upgraded replacement though.

It's a very odd situation and you are right....in a way.

But we're talking about one of our players maybe going to PSG. A team who is loaded with superstars and quite frankly about 3 levels above where we are.

How do we get a player that is an improvement on a player going to team so far ahead of us?

It's an odd situation.

That probably means nothing as I see Gana is still an Everton player and this PSG talk is probably all crap.

Hits the nail on the head I think.

You'd think some of our fans would learn after they crowed that it would be really easy to replace Stones, Lukaku, Fellaini, Barkley etc etc. Actually laughing as if Pep Guardiola was an idiot for not realising that Ashley Williams was a better bet at centre half, only to find that we downgraded every time and those players have gone on to win trophies while we've gradually slid down the league.

Again, losing Gueye wouldn't be the end of the world, but this idea that we will just magically find someone who is better defensively (because now Gueye is lacking discipline and doesn't read the game apparently) and significantly better on the ball very much smacks of all the shouts of 'now we're not relying on Lukaku everyone else will remember how to score and we'll actually be so much better going forward'. Otherwise known as absolute codswallop.

Exactly. If the rumour is true, it's Gana wanting to leave us for PSG. Which is totally understandable. Replacing him will be hard enough. Let alone with someone better.

Gueye is as good as Kante

The problem being we don't play to his strengths . The minute he has to do more than just run around throwing tackles in and breaking play up, his effectiveness goes down .

Part of the issue is that siggurdson isn't the quickest and our attack doesn't break quick enough. So it means the ball doesn't leave the middle quick enough inviting pressure into the ball players , ergo gueye and gomes. If siggurdson was a ball carrier for example then we could move the ball up the pitch quicker , or if we had a front three to release when he got the ball then we could transfer from defence to attack faster.

What's that got to do with gueye? It means when we get pressured in the middle and in some games overpowered in midfield, gueye then has to take on a different role to relieve that pressure meaning he has to play more as a central midfielder . We get very congested with 3 cm so they all have to do the same role.

Whereas if we could move the ball much faster with gomes and siggurdson then it frees gueye to only perform the sweeper role , or Kante role as its now known. He doesn't have to get a foothold in the middle, he doesn't have to care about the attackers . He simply has to win the ball and then give it to someone who turns it into an attack.

Long ramble but hopefully you get where I am coming from.

I'm just saying what I have seen over again really , we still sell our best assets on a regular basis and kenwright is still around to be involved.
