I am still not convinced of the truth in this rumour , but PSG are a club that win everything domestically and their only challenge is the CL. Gueye could be used to bolster the squad for the domestic campaign or strengthen the squad for the CL.

when you have a front three of Neymar, Cavani and MBappe the requirements of your midfield are very different to most clubs from a creative viewpoint.

Have there been any reputable reports stating Gueye is going or that we have received a bid yet? I won't believe it until Paul Joyce reveals it in a tweet filled with barely concealed mirth

Would think they’d want him specifically for CL as they don’t dominate the ball in those games like they do domestically. Could be key for them there. Hope he stays. Does my head in with people always trying to sell our best players because they focus on the negative or the fact that they’re not 21.

If Gana could pass the ball as well as some on here think he should be able to, he would never have made a pit-stop at Everton in his career, he'd be at PSG or an equivalent side already.

He is in the side to chase the ball on transitions and to mark runners when we are defending and as the stats show, year after year, he is one of the best players in the league at this by the amount of tackles and interceptions he makes. His job in our team, when we are in possession, should be little more than simply giving it to the creators in the team. When Gomes and Sigurdsson were playing tremendously well, this was working fine. Their form has tailed off yet bizarrely it's somehow Gueye collecting most of the flak for us being bad in possession?

Our movement off the ball is so awful right now that Andrea Pirlo would probably look like a cart horse in this team. Is Gana great on the ball? No. Is he is utterly terrible? No, far from it. At the end of the day if players aren't making themselves available for passes, it doesn't matter how good on the ball you are.

I understand the business argument to sell him, it's good money (if the rumours are true) for a player of his age and position. However we already need a midfielder even if Gana stays, our back up options are Davies and Schneiderlin, neither are good enough, and Gomes as it stands is only here for another six months.

Quite a few highly rated midfielders arrived in the Premier League this season; Jorginho at Chelsea has been little more than average, Neves at Wolves has struggled, Seri and Anguissa at Fulham have been poor, Fred at United has been dreadful, Keita at Liverpool has been peripheral and Fabinho only now looks like he is finding his feet after a tough start. Which ones have been an unqualified success story? Torriera is the only one I can think of.

Are people so confident that we'll sign a guaranteed success story, in January of all times, that makes selling Gana a no-brainer? And I think those posting these £40m rumours are going to be disappointed..

Jorginho is league's above gana

Jorginho is league's above gana

Never said he wasn't, I said he's been average at best in the league so far (or at least hasn't replicated his Napoli form).

My point about him, and the other players mentioned, was that people on here shouldn't just assume we can go out in a January window and get a player who will an instant success story, as all the players I listed came with big reputations and it hasn't exactly gone to plan for any of them.

Replacing Gana will not be easy is what I'm saying.
