You can't have a midfield solely consisting of flair players who will try Hollywood passes and not read danger/track back.

You seem to think a "limited footballer" is someone who isn't doing stepovers and spraying 40 yard passes.

Gana is far from limited in what he does. He does things that more creative midfielders could only dream of doing. It's a very rare ability he has and that's the reason the likes of PSG are having a look - because having one guy like that breaking things up gives your more creative players the freedom to push 10 yards further up the pitch with confidence.
Well they obviously don’t thing he’s that good because apparently they only had 20mil to spend. And have now spent 47mil on another midfielder.

I said the other day, this would be a stop gap signing for PSG and he won’t be in the team next year and they will be flogging him to China this time next year.

I don’t think every player has to play 40 yard passes and do tricks and flicks. It would be nice if Gana could do 10yards passes.

As for reading danger, he didn’t do that very well last week when Southampton on more than one occasion had the freedom of the midfield, with one leading to a goal. Same against Watford when he let doucoure run off the back of him in to our box to score.

I will be gutted if he’s still here on February the 1st, we are missing a trick by not selling, as he’s not good enough to take us forward and He doesn’t have the defensive discipline that silva wants from a number 6. I can see silva getting that number 6 and Gana leaving for peanuts in 18months.

This. At the bare minimum, the modern FOOTBALL PLAYER let alone modern midfielder should be able to hit a man from 10 yards. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say Gana can not do this. His long passing is better than his short passing. I was watching Harry Winks the other day against Fulham. He didn't do anything flash, but he never gave the ball away and kept it ticking over. I call Gana the cul-de-sac, because once you give him the ball there's nowhere else for us to go. He'll hit it out of play or hand it over to the opposition.

As for my Mooy suggestion, well this thread is about Gana. Mooy was merely an idea. I've seen him play a lot and he's tidy on the ball and has been Huddersfield's best player for some time; he must have something about him to perform so well in that team. If anyone can think of a better replacement who will be available, I am all ears. Gana is NOT the answer.

What a ridiculous thing say, embarrassing yourself. Brands can see it and how would you know that, have you spoke to him?

The reason he hasn't been sold for a massive profit is that he can't be sold for a massive profit. To put it another way, imagine you were a fan of another club and you heard Gana was on the verge of signing. Would you really be excited about that?

You talking about fan power? Well it doesn't matter what PSG fans think as he is ours and were not selling, no matter what they dangle.

However, if we do sell the Evertonians are going to go mad and call Moshiri out for being a fraud, the days of selling our best players went when Kenwright was still in charge, if we go back to that now, while lurking in the bottom half of the table, its grim times again

He has the highest average pass rate in the squad this season and is the fourth most successful in terms of passes completed. To put into context, he attempts twice the amount of passes a game than Sigurdsson and with a higher success rate. This is because he is constantly involved in the game and is playing simple passes to more creative players or knocking the ball back to safe areas upon tackle/interception.

He also completes double the amount of tackles than anyone else in the squad and has the most interceptions.

I know stats can be misleading, but that's directly answers that unmerited criticism of Gana, and proves that what he does well goes unnoticed.

He's never going to thread a ball forward and unlock a defence. That's not what he's there for.

Really weird take on it. For me, the obvious fish out of water in our system is Sigurdsson. We have Gana, who breaks up play, with Andre Gomes, who when on form is our much needed deep lying playmaker of sorts, but we don't have the advanced playmaker who makes things tick in the final third, so everything breaks down.

In theory we do play with two CMs and an attacking mid, but the attacking mid isn't the playmaker we need. Saying Gana can't play as the deeper of two midfielders is a weird call for me because in that case the only other system would be to not have an attacking midfielder and instead have two CMs and a defensive midfielder in a 4-5-1 or 3-5-2.

Yeah, that is exactly the way we have to play to get the best out of gana imo.

When gana was at his best we had Barry sitting deep and Barkley taking the ball of him and running with it. Gana could just go chasing the ball, putting out fires, Barry would make sure the back line wasn't exposed and Barkley would move it.

Now we have gomes moving out of position with the ball, sigurdsson by the striker and gana running off to intercept/tackle. The midfield is a absolute unbalanced mess.

Personally I think we need a 6 who sits in and two 8 who can be box to box. That's how I think we sure up our midfield.

No, probably he was not joking. He is probably one of those who are genuinely disappointed when we win and win well. There are not many like that but there are a few. They thrive on so-called adversity. Positive results leave them with little or nothing much to complain about and it probably irks them.

And you are what I like to call a ball watcher. Someone who just watches the ball and seems not to grasp the finer details of the game obviously.

As a friend of mine once said about another one of you ball watches "they are untroubled by the complexities in life".

Is this joke?

It was sarcasm like. Two of the games we were missing gana we lost 6-2 and won 5-1. So saying were screwed with out him this season hasn't got much evidence behind it was my meaning.
